More restrictions expected tonight

Another National Cabinet Meeting scheduled for tonight.

Financial help for renters would be good.

The landlords are already getting mortgage payments deferred by the bank, but I bet they still want their rents.

Given times - pay something - affordable in good faith.

It will all come out in the wash - things will eventually get back to ' normal '.

Landlords are not renting elsewhere - all are in the same Ark.

Daughter's landlord can be a real swine.

Unless someone tells him to back off, he'll be howling down her door

Through the agents, of course.

They're just as bad.

I'd like to see non-essential retail close for at least a few months,they're mostly running at a loss right now anyway.. I admit my reasons are selfish, I want my daughter to be safe at home

2 days late and/or $20 short. It's happened.

She laughs cos they can't take her to the tribunal for that, but it's still a hassle.

And yet, she can't get him to fix anything.

Expects the lawns/gardening to be done, but refuses to supply a green Council bin for it.

And before you say she should move, she likes the house and location.

You know yourself, being a single mum is not easy.

edit: This month's and next month's rent are going to be hard. Not much money coming in now.

Can she apply to council herself for a green bin? I dunno much about them, we dont have them here. No need to use a grass catcher when moving the lawn, just leave it on the ground, makes great mulch.

Yeah being a SM isnt easy at all ..... been there done that .... But paying the rent late is not a great idea either

Yes I am expecting that to be tabled Deb, could be wrong. But today at our NSW coastal plaza most of the general and clothing retail shops were yawningly empty and many closed already. .They have removed all the tables and chairs from the Food Court. The plaza will have to remain open as 3 major supermarkets are there. But I think most everything else will close. Very sad.

But imo Australia needs to be more draconian certainly NSW does where the curve is nearly shooting off the page.

OK re green bin, can she chuck the smaller prunings in the ordinary garbage bin? Most people around here do that, then it doesn't pile up

Is the Au or Vic government giving any extra financial help to those folk who are self employed?

Yes , rent assistance for the newly corona-unemployed or under-employed ! ( Also Mortgage assistance )

Not sure about elsewhere, but here the green bins cost us about $200 a year, which is added to the council rates.

I know it can be hard, but I always paid my rent, and later house payment before anything else; after my car accident I was sometimes living on 2minute noodles with bit of parsley or carrot for weeks on end. The people who own the house are not always rolling in $, they may be counting on the rent money for their mortgage or whatever.

I agree, it IS important to pay your rent on time and pay the correct amount ....... The landlord may not be able to take the tenant to a tribunal BUT they can refuse to renew your lease ......

After the last tenant the landlord had, my daughter is a gem.

They turned the place into a dump and did a 'runner' with 3 months rent owing.

She agreed to pay over and above the rent in the first place to secure the property.

If she's paying more than was asked, surely some leniency is not too hard.

After all, the landlord is getting deferred mortgage payments.

He hasn't had a problem with the lease so far.

Also, I think the real estate agent is the one stirring the pot.

The go-between is always the problem.

Daughter had to put her youngest into high school this year.

That's what's put her so far behind.

It cost more than a month's rent for new uniform, fees and a new school laptop.

As it is, the poor kid only has one set of uniform to wear. He should have a spare.

And he's growing like a weed - will need new everything soon.

I do what I can, but can't support her financially.

Kazumi, you can't feed kids just 2 minute noodles for weeks

Any more judgements, folks?

i would not want to be in the rental market and on low income.

living from week to week having to decide can i buy that?

i'm not rich and i cant just get what i want at the drop of a hat, but i have some savings, enough to cover most sudden problems.

i could buy a new fridge or a new washing mackine ect if i needed to.

a car would be more difficult hence i have full market value cover.

not that market value would get me another car in the same condition.

Landlording is a business so the house owners will be able to apply for Govt assistance , also the banks will help with their business loans etc
