Another STUNT by this desperate PM....

Wonder Gillard wiped KRUDDSs blood of the knife before she stabbed a loyal senator or 25 years in the back.

It’s a clear case of racial discrimination. Prime Minister Julia Gillard dumps Senator Trish Crossin for being too white:

PRIME Minister Julia Gillard faces a fight to get former Olympian Nova Peris into the Senate, with current NT Senator Trish Crossin speaking out against the decision to replace her.

Ms Peris will stand for Labor at the upcoming election, with Julia Gillard declaring the party needs an indigenous representative in the Federal Parliament…

The Prime Minister personally selected the Aboriginal athlete for preselection as a senate candidate in the NT in a decision that has upset Labor’s serving senator, Trish Crossin.

Ms Gillard said she had engaged “in a captain’s pick’’ in endorsing the Olympic hockey gold medallist over Senator Crossin…

“There has never been an indigenous Australian who has served as a federal Labor representative,’’ she said.

“I’m determined that at the 2013 election we change that.’’

Let’s be clear. Gillard has given no reason for replacing Crossin with Peris other than that Peris is Aboriginal - and Crossin is not.

Nothing has been said about Crossin being less talented, less hard-working, less loyal. The public explanation for the move is entirely about Nova being of one “race” - and Crossin not.

The Australian Human Rights Commission is normally red hot against this kind of discrimination, and says there is a law against it:

a fantastic choice . at least gillard didn't set the incumbent up with a honeytrap as Brough and co did. unlike the pimping of ashby it was done openly. nova will make a great senator.

I've had dealings with Trish Crossin. I thought she was great.

Nothing against Nova Peris, I wish her all the best ... but aren't there other procedures to get her elected without taking out Crossin?

you pre- select the person with the best chance of securing the seat. the only racist involved is Bolt for making it a race issue. remembering Penny Wong was relegated to 3rd on the ticket in SA until the others stood aside for her to retain her no 1 senate ticket. Either Bolt doesn't understand the proccess or pretends not to .

in this case its her (gillard) the 'captain' making a smart and strategic choice and skirting around the local branches. happens all the time in the backrooms of menzies house.. thats why the NW's of this world are so upset.. they know Nova can win .

remember Penny wong was placed 3rd on the SA senate ticket a while ago. it was redressed, because state conferences don't always get it right. the federal party should call the shots

Bolt and his masters will snipe at anything and everything, its him and News that are concerned about this 'desperate' PM and her ability to think on her feet. A smart leader is always looking for renewal, its one way to gain ground. one also has to look at the last NT election, where the libs annexed indigenous votes successfully.. Gillard is shoring up the senate with some truly representative members .. anyone in her position would be a fool to do nothing, and she's nobodys fool.

Okay. So it's vote buying. I know they all do it. Don't give a toss about Bolt. Just wondered on the why if the current Senator was doing her job she gets ditched.

not so much 'broken' nevyn, but there's always room for improvement.

the right have no policy to examine, so its all about playing the man.. (in this case woman). they should go after the ball sometimes, its what the oppn are actually paid for.

I think you mean that Federally they wanted her there at all costs for what she could bring to the table. Easy votes. Call it what it is. For both sides.
