It has not happened to me.

I did pick up on a very recent nondelivery issue, although digital*ghost, it wasn't for a parcel that could be picked up by the driver to be correctly delivered on the spot. On Thursday, I was expecting a delivery of some Sage Derby cheese (among others) which I was planning to use in a particular recipe. Delivery notification via SMS indicated it had been delivered.

No, it had not! (I'm still in recovery mode from several health issues, so was home.)

I was on the phone to AP, with AP being none the wiser. However, I saw that the delivery suburb was the same delivery suburb as that from which the cheeses had been despatched. Obviously the parcel had been delivered back to the sender. AP rep expressed bewilderment and remorse; either she really cared about my cheeses, or she had gone through some high-level CS rep drama classes. I then called the cheesy comestible place of purveyance, and more bewilderment and remorse, leading to the lovely lady with whom I spoke saying that they'd personally deliver the cheeses to me on Monday.

So... no photo of a parcel for me, but as I clearly can't let a cheese post go without the appropriate video, here it is.

I've never received an email like that. Mine normally come as a series. eg Your parcel is on its way; Your parcel is due to be delivered tomorrow; Your parcel is onboard the van for delivery today; Your parcel has been delivered.

I've never actually received a photo but maybe they are moving to that format. I'll watch my emails carefully next time a delivery is due!

I can see why they are tempted to do it as it could be a proof of sorts that the parcel actually arrived at the correct address (if you can see some of the surroundings next to the parcel). But to me, it is not definite proof the person actually received it into their little hot hands. It's unlikely I know, but who is to say the delivery man or a passing person didn't just pick up the parcel and walk off soon after the parcel was photographed?

A couple of months ago, I was expecting delivery of a large box (postal supplies). I got the usual email updates, and then finally the 'your parcel has been delivered' one. I hadn't seen or heard them pull up, and when I opened my door to bring it in there was no parcel on the porch (I live in a block of units, my porch is really the only place to leave a package when delivering).

I called them immediately and asked them to check into whether the delivered status was correct, and where it had been delivered to if it was. They emailed me the photo of where it was left while I was on the phone with them and I dunno where they delivered it, but it was definitely not my porch (or anyone else's in my block of units).

The driver went back to the location, picked up the parcel and I had it not long after. While I was chatting to him he said "I wish they were all this easy". I'm not really sure what he meant by that (didn't ask for clarification), so he could have been referring to how quickly I picked up on the error, making it that much easier to sort out, or that the package hadn't been taken in by the person at the other place, opened etc, or he could have just meant I was being friendly and such, not berating him over the situation (I didn't even mention that it had been misdelivered, was just happy to get my package without too much drama ) - either way, the phrase indicates misdelivery happens often enough, and perhaps these kinds of situations are why they decided to do it. If you get an email at work to say your package has been delivered, you're not going to question it, you're just going to expect it to be there somewhere when you get home. If you get a photo attached to that email and can see it's not your place, you have a better opportunity to call them up and try to sort it out.

Plus, we're now approaching the Christmas season, and that means parcel theft is going to increase - if recipients can see the package was actually delivered to their home but can't find it, at least they'll know for sure it wasn't AP error.

I'd so love it if our parcels were photographed, because then I'd have something to throw at AP when they think my front door is a "safe place", so will safe drop, including SOD parcels (they sign for it and safe drop it, which kind of defeats the purpose of paying for SOD so it won't be dropped!). I have no front fence. My front door is about 15 feet from the footpath and in full view. AP think that it's safe to lean parcels against my front door so that anyone walking past can duck in and steal it......which they have.

I got a notification on Thursday that a parcel was coming that day. A day earlier than expected. We were in Sydney. I rang a friend to ask if she could grab it when it arrived. I said I'd let her know when the app told me it was delivered, plus I could check the CCTV. She happened to be driving past running errands, when she saw the delivery van pull up. She stopped and told him that we were away, could he chuck the parcel over the fence into the back yard. He did. Shame I can't get them to do that all the time! Yet, I know next week, another parcel will be leaned up against my front door, with them thinking it's a safe place, in full view of the street.

Why can't I be one of those people mentioned in another thread where someone was complaining that all their parcels were carded and sent to the PO? I WANT TO BE THAT PERSON!!!

Plus, it's as someone else mentioned, mail is stored at the sorting centre rather than the PO. I have been fighting with AP about this for years. Despite all their promises of ensuring all parcels will be carded, it never happens. Even one last week that had written all over it DO NOT SAFE DROP, plus an official do not safe drop sticker applied by AP, it was still safe dropped. Propped up against my front door, in it's bright yellow express post satchel.
