This is not really a question, rather an observation.

I'm in Australia and I've noticed a growing number of overseas suppliers, mainly China, are putting in very long delivery periods.

Presumably this is to allow them to say the article was delivered within the time frame.

However it makes it difficult for purchasers to query a non-arrival with a long delivery period.

I'm currently trying to get a small credit from one such supplier.

Sellers should be restricted in the end delivery date and not be allowed to put in extreme dates.

Not really a sellers issue. Sellers can only enter their handling time, which is displayed in the listing. Ebay insert the ETA dates

which are displayed prior to purchase. Extremely long ETA can therefore be easily avoided by purchases, and in most cases it

applies to Sea Mail

If you pay by paypal, then you have 180 day buyer protection.

Even a slow boat from China will not take that long.
