Toilet Paper Profiteers

Shame on all the scum selling toilet paper on eBay. These scum are the ones stripping the supermarket shelfs bare depriving people of basic necessities and selling it on here for a profit.

If eBay actually gave a dame they should end all of these listings and that would fix the problem of shortage on supermarket shelfs as it would take away the main selling site for these scum.

Those are not the people stripping the shelves. Most of those overpriced toilet paper listings do not a get a bid, and some are just joke listings. Only the reasonably priced ones are selling. There are many reasons people buy 'normal' things off Ebay and you can't stop all listings because those people need to buy online.

Hi, I'm one of the people selling toilet paper. I tried for a week to find toilet paper at a few of my local shops. I showed up and waited with a crowd of people for the doors to open only to find empty shelves. When I finally found some I bought two 24 packs. Two was the limit at the time. I heard that people were selling it on ebay so of course I wanted to see if I could make a little bit of money by selling one of them. I started the auction at $14 which is what ebay recommended (and btw was only $2 more than I paid in woolies). By the end, the bidders had put the price up to $76. The winning bidder turned out to be a fake who never paid. That's not the point. The point is, it's the buyers who are choosing to bid ridiculous amounts for toilet paper. If they want to bid that much and actually pay for it, then that's their choice. They're not being swindled. It's actually the sellers who are being stuffed around by fake bidders. Maybe you should direct your anger at the media and poltiicians who are causing all this fear and panic buying. The reaction to this whole thing has been way over the top. Just saying..

So you bought two packets and only needed one so the post fits your profile exactly and you stopped someone else from buying that packet.

eBay will not stop auctions as it's the buyer that sets the price but with a lot of the auction the bidders are fakes

because they don't want these scam sellers selling their items at inflated prices to profiteer from this Pandemic.

Anyone that's genuine would sell it as a BIN at a reasonable price and not via an auction and hoping that

someone bids high.

You're doing exactly what this post is about and that's trying to make a profit from a tragedy and that's

why sellers like that are called mongrels as it's un Australian and makes you a scammer just like them.
So did the winning bidder of the next auction for same pack pay? $112.50?

Possibly not as the first sold for $76 didn't get paid,relisted sold it for $112.50 yesterday and didn't get paid

again maybe or listed the 2nd pack as a $60 BIN and sold it today for a quick profit as they maybe got some

more or planning to to take a few more so others that need them can't.

There are currently 5,000+ listings for toilet paper in Australia, and 2000 under Sold. I know some of them won't be paid for but I think there'd be a lot of people out there who don't have the time to visit a supermarket three or four times a day in the hope of being there at a time when there's stock on the shelves and they'd be willing to pay three or four times normal price just to get it.

Anyone buying it so that others can't get it at the supermarket and forcing them to buy at inflated prices is a real scumbag and deserves to be fined. During the war that sort of thing wasn't allowed and it should have severe penalties now. It's a different thing if someone already happened to have an excess and decided to sell it off to help others, but if they genuinely wanted to help they could ask all their neighbours do they need it and sell it to them at normal cost without needing to use ebay at all.

It's also a different matter when there's a genuine shortage and the market determines the price, but the current shortage is only an artificial one that's being created by those who want to take advantage of others.

I bought a carton of 48 rolls on-line, which I plan to share with my daughter - free delivery.

They were slightly more than you would pay in a supermarket, but had 1/3 more sheets.

It has saved me the stress of physically looking, as I do my grocery shopping online, and have for years.

I see no problem with toilet paper sellers.

Sellers only profit when someone buys.

If you're stupid enough to pay hundreds for loo rolls, then more fool you.

If the people selling double the price weren't taking all the supermarket stocks you might have been able to get it at the supermarket and not have any of the stress. This is what annoys me about them - the fact that they're cleaning out the supermarkets so everyone is forced to buy from them.

I'm not talking about the ones who are selling for the price it's normally sold for, I'm talking about those who are taking advantage of others. It's illegal to manipulate the stockmarket but these people are doing pretty much the same thing - buy everything there is so there's none available and people are forced to pay inflated prices. How long before they start doing the same with food, and those who can't afford the inflated prices go without? For all I know they're already doing it.

No the winning bidder for the second auction that bid $112 was a fake also. I looked up his profile and found recent feedback saying “fake buyer” and when I checked listings for the person who left the feedback they were selling toilet paper. Clearly these people are deliberately messing with people who are selling toilet paper thinking they’re some kind of hero but they’re the ones inflating the prices with the highest bids and then people who genuinely wanted it miss out. So I cancelled the sale for $112 and sent a second chance offer to the next person but then someone from the morality police must have reported my listings after I posted on here because they were removed by eBay. So I said stuff it and I listed it for $60 BIN and it sold straight away and it’s already been paid for and posted 🙂

That "buyer" probably reported it to get out of the sale or for you cancelling it other wise the other listings

would've been gone as well.

The way things are going it will be illegal to sell them soon. If he doesn't sell them soon, he might be in gaol. Or have 2000 rolls. At least he won't have to worry about panic buying for a few years.
