Shipping costs not refunded

What I bought was not sent to me, as the seller decided against shipping internationally. I requested a refund, and they granted it, but the shipping costs were not refunded. Nothing was ever shipped as they cancelled the order. How can I get my money back?

You might have to open a case for "Item Not Received".

This will put the ball in to the sellers court and they will have to respond to the case within 4 days and refund the balance, otherwise Ebay will do it for them.

If they cancelled the order, the full amount should have come back to you, so something seems a bit weird. Sounds more like they just refunded the item cost and didn't actually cancel anything.

By having cancelled it, I meant verbally only. I didn't know there was a way for them to cancel it on their side. I had to request a refund as though I had recieved the item

Yes you will either have to get it formally cancelled, or an item not received case. if it's verbal its out of Ebays hands

Go to the transaction in your purchase history and you will get the option of opening a case under the "More Actions" in the drop down list.

I can't find any button that would let me. I think Ebay think all problems have been resolved, as it's already labelled as a returned or cancelled order?

How much did you pay, including item and postage, compared to how much you got back?

Often there is a difference in the exchange rate, and you might get back less, even though you have been fully refunded.

Do you have an item number?

I payed 400 USD for the item, 123.36 USD for shipping, and 61.06 USD in import charges. 400 USD has been refunded, but the rest is missing.

Well, he only has two ratings as seller. Maybe he just does not know how to do things.

Have you asked the seller to "formally" cancel the purchase?

I am not a seller, so I don't know,,, Maybe sellers here will be able to let you know, or you could also explain the problem to eBay (live chat on the Help page). Maybe they are able to help with postage.

papermoon, it's a GSP item so the postage refund would have to come from them not the seller.

Was the item the Playstation?

I don't think that the North American ones can be set for our 220V electrical system.

We had one when we lived in Canada and when we came to Aus, we had to get a voltage convertor device in order to use it (which cost something like $100).

So it might be a blessing in disguise - hopefully you can get all your funds back.

I assume you paid with Paypal, but did you fund the item with a credit card? If you did, then you can contact your provider and explain what has happened. Try the CS reps first as suggested and see what they say - bear in mind that most of the help they claim to give is useless and many of them do not even follow Ebay's own guidelines.

Do you live in a country that uses 220v? If so, why are you claiming to be Australian?

Thanks to all who have responded. I contacted eBay customer support, and they've said that I should recieve the refund within 3-5 business days. I am doubtful, as I have already recieved a refund of the 400 USD, and am still waiting on the 184.42 USD from shipping, but all I can do for now is wait.

It wasn't a PlayStation, it was a collector's edition of a game for the PlayStation. I don't recall paying via PayPal, and I usually avoid it if possible so I doubt I would have if i had the option to do otherwise

It may not have worked here anyway.

If you didn't pay via paypal, then how did you pay and/or where did the seller send the refund?

PS games aren't region specific as far as I'm aware. I didn't buy it for the game, though, only the collectables included. I must have payed just through my debit card, and the refund was processed through eBay claiming to have refunded through source of original payment
