Two items that I purchased from eBay sellers were delivered to the wrong address. Both of the packages were addressed correctly. One parcel was delivered by Australia Post on Monday 16/01/2022 & we were informed by email that the item had been delivered - we received the email on Tuesday 17/01/2022. My wife found our parcel sitting on the front porch of another unit - the occupants being away for 48hours. Today we received an email informing us that another item had been delivered and we again found our package placed on the door mat at another unit in our complex group. We are very disappointed with the deliverer Australia Post.

Maybe think about getting a Post Office box, units are renowned for parcels going missing/stolen. Also talk to your local post office and make them aware of the situation.

And this relates to eBay how?

And other members, or even eBay, but they don't read board posts, can rectify it how.

As said, go to the source of the problem - AP.

I doubt you really needed other members to point this out.

No. It has nothing to do with eBay and everything to do with Australia Post.

The OP could have had (and maybe has had) the same issue with purchases from other online sites. The issue is with the carrier, as admitted by the OP, not the site.

Maybe consider opening up a Parcel Collect, or a Parcel Locker account (lockers depend on where you are located. Most places outside the cities don't have them)? What that means is, instead of parcels being delivered (or not) to your home address, they go to the post office of your choice, where you will be notified that it's ready for collection.

Instead of your address being:

John Smith

25 something St

Some Place 9876

It would be something like:

John Smith

Parcel Collect 12345-67890

14 Post Office St

Some Place 9876

You need to create a (free) My Post account to be able to utilise this service. I have had so many parcels stolen from my front door. Using Parcel Collect means no more stolen parcels, as they go straight to the PO. Not, oh the resident isn't at home, we'll leave a card, or just leave it in a safe place (which apparently is 2 metres from the footpath, in full view, with no front fence, neatly propped up against the front door!).

PO boxes are good. Parcel collect is just as good, without having to pay for it. You just can't receive letters that way. For example, a pair of earrings that can be sent as a large letter, will be flagged as not eligible. When that happens, they add your registered address to the envelope and it's delivered to your letterbox.

It's not just for online purchases. If you are say in NSW and you want to send a parcel to your sister in WA for her birthday, then you send it to her Parcel Collect address.

Another good thing is, you can get parcels redirected. For example, you get called urgently interstate to someone who is extremely unwell. OMG, I forgot that parcel! You can get it redirected to the local PO near were you're staying, or to a home address. It also means that if you are away for a few months and you want to buy stuff, you just change your profile in the Aust Post app, sending it to the local PO to where you are.

For a free service, it has countless benefits.

Yes the OP can take it up with Aust Post......and a fat lot of good that will probably do.

eBay users may have other solutions like Parcel Collect etc - speaking from experience with using a service, not just relying on AP says.

Nothing wrong with asking buyers on eBay for help.

LOL

I looked up the location of Parcel Lockers for my area (for a long time there weren't any) just as an exercise (I am housebound and couldn't get to them anyway) and apparently most of them are at 7/11 shops and Woolies in surrounding suburbs and well beyond. There are NONE in my suburb - it's like it's a no go zone.....surrounded by lockers. Weird.

The closest Parcel Collect is my local Post Office where the queues are long - from the counter to out the PO and well into the shopping mall.....plus you'd be lucky indeed to even get a parking space. I used to have my parcels redirected to a sub PO (in a newsagent in an adjoining suburb) at which you could collect your parcels or mail as long as the newsagent was still open. That seems to have changed to the post office component only keeping standard post office hours. Not much good if you are at work all day. Very disappointing for their customers.

I suppose the OP has a smartphone (everyone on the planet has one - except me) because when Aust Post were trying to talk me into using a locker for delivery - in my working days and when it seems there were NONE in my area at all - and apparently you can't sign up if you don't have a smartphone as you can't get text messages. That was fun - no signing up there. I have heard of people using the lockers who couldn't get their parcels because the code (?) wouldn't work. I assume you haven't struck that problem. 🙂

Hopefully the OP will find something that works.

Your post struck a chord with me. About 3 years back I received a text on my mobile phone to collect a parcel at some parcel place that was in a suburb about a 10 min drive from here. It gave some sort of number code and QR code to scan. My mobile wasn't a smart one with internet access or anything, it was very basic.

Thank god my son had a smart phone though and took over and said it was easy. It rattled me though at the time as the expectation seemed to be that 'everyone' could do it.

Robuni, your problem is not with Australia Post as such except in a broad sense. It is specifically with your postie or the local branch of AP.

A few years back we had a problem with local deliveries. Not in the sense they didn't come to our address but more about the timing. We were getting our mail about a week after others in the neighbouring suburbs got the same thing. Sometimes a 10 day lag!

What i did was I went onto the AP web site and emailed them, naming the area, giving my address and asking them to look into the local AP branch and why our area was consistently having delayed deliveries.

They took it seriously and asked for details of letters, parcels, delivery dates etc

I have to say, the result wasn't immediate but over the next few months, things improved radically.

You need to do the same. Email them with very specfific details-your address, the address the parcels were delivered to and dates it happened then ask who is delivering them and could they check out why this person is persistently making mistakes. That person (if it is just one person) may then face a 'please explain' and lift their game.

AP at one stage advertised a service I was interested in (it was a while ago so I've now forgotten what it was). Sure enough I had to have a smartphone to sign up. I was told it was for 'security verification' reasons...not text messages.

I wasn't impressed.

As I pointed out to AP - you have my name - my address - my (landline) phone number - two of my email addresses - not to mention my MyPost account details. What's next - DNA verification? It's easier for some complete stranger to use someone else's mobile phone than misuse my landline one. I found their reasoning absurd.
