Hello eBay,

I recently bought an item from a seller based in Canada but shipping from Hong Kong. Today, I just received tracking in the form of an Australian Post tracking number. Is this normal or is it a fake tracking scam? I've always though AusPost tracking numbers can only be acquired if the sender location is in Australia.

Also, regarding the seller's feedback, the seller has 93 positive and 1 negative feedback which says that the seller has sold a fake item. The seller's feedback score is only 76. Are there hidden negative feedbacks? Is it possible to have a feedback score that is less that the number of positive feedbacks?

I'm getting suspicious vibes because the seller claimed that the item I purchased came from a store he works at and when I contacted the store, they mentioned that they never sold such item.

The seller also sells other things which are located elsewhere, such as this https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/384728065966?hash=item59939467ae:g:jP0AAOSwMypiBfVn which is shipped from Vancouver. Doesn't make sense

Thank you

Sounds like he is drop shipping some of his items, which many sellers do. They live in one country, but send items from China. Looking at the listings, there's a good chance anything sent from Hong Kong is counterfeit. The watch is possibly ok and is part of his personal belongings with him in Canada.

When an item enters Australia, Aus Post often put their own label on it, which changes the tracking number to an Aus Post one.

Just to add - I've had a look and these items are available through AliExpress, which means they are counterfeit/knockoffs. If you go to their website, and type in Mastermind Japan, (for example), you get a heap of listings for very cheap prices.

I have done an extensive research on taobao, and yes, unfortunately, the item I purchased is fake. Found a taobao seller using the same photos and it looks like this ebay seller has simply photoshopped the watermark (it's obvious if you compare and zoom in). I have reported it to eBay and also messaged the seller. Not much I can do for now unless if seller provides refund before shipping. Otherwise, I have to wait for the item to arrive and then open up a case.

Ahh, it's not often I get fooled. https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a230r.1.14.192.469f7d578DSEJl&id=668043220749&ns=1&abbucket=19#detail

Once it arrives, you can open a case for Not as Described. The seller may ask you to return the item - under no circumstances do this unless they forward the postage funds to do so (highly unlikely). I wouldn't even bother communicating with them again.

I'm not sure how Not As Described disputes work with eBay, but with Paypal disputes, from experience, we need to return the item and provide tracking to receive the refund. So with an eBay dispute, I shouldn't return unless the seller reimburses the return postage?

The process would be to open a case through Ebay first - there is no reason why you shouldn't be able to achieve a resolution this way. If it fails, then you can go to Paypal, but there are steps to take before doing so.

Once the case is opened, the onus will fall to the seller for a resolution within 4 days. Since it is highly unlikely that they will send you the money, they should hopefully refund. However, there is nothing stopping them from messaging you to send the item back before refunding. Just tell them that they need to provide postage if they want it. The only time you should pay for return postage is if you have changed your mind.

Let us know what happens once you get it and have opened the case.

Hey Jellybird,

Just received the item, and yes, the item is indeed a counterfeit.

I'm trying to open a case now. Ebay wants a reason for a return request.

Do I select "does not seem authentic" or "does not match description or photos". The description says it is authentic but the item suggests otherwise. The word "seem" makes it sound like as if I'm not sure whether it is fake or not, but I am 100% confident it is fake.

Thank you

I don't have any direct experience in the matter, but the choices may not matter ultimately.

If you choose the "does not seem authentic" option, it may open up a second drop down, or give you a text box for input. If so, you can always write that listing has been sent from a knock off site such as AliExpress etc.

If it doesn't open anything further, it will probably just proceed to the next step.

Let us know what the seller comes back with.

I hope this thread can be useful to others once everything is resolved.

Currently waiting for more evidence that it is a fake from a 3rd party authentication service just in case the seller comes up with anything.

Why spend money on this, when you know it is fake?

Just open the case - the seller will be given very limited options/responses either way, as I mentioned above. They will only be able to request that you return it (and provide funds - unlikely), or they will refund.

I probably didn't need to ayy.

Anyway, I have opened the case.

Looks like the seller was indeed located in Canada. Return shipping from Australia to Canada will probably cost more than the original price of the fake item.

Read the MBG policy page. You will see that you as the buyer are not responsible for the cost of return postage in the case of SNAD/INAD.

As mentioned several times, you do not need to worry about how much it costs

You, as the buyer, do not pay

If the seller has told you differently , they are telling porkie pies
