Missing item - eBay not taking the responsibility

Hi,

I purchased an item that was never delivered to me. The concierge in our building never signed for the item and it was never delivered to me. I reported this to eBay, and they refused to take the responsibility even though the item is covered by eBay Money Back Guarantee. I appealed the decision, and they held their original decision because the seller *(based in Canada) believes that the item was handled by Canadian Post and was delivered to a local post in Australia. I am not given any information about the local post that handles this. I contacted Australia Post which is our national post here and they have no idea. What I should I do now? Why am I paying $1300 (CAD) for an item that I never received? Who is responsible for this? There are no instructions and options in the website to appeal a case that eBay already considers to be closed. This is just insane! How can you expect me pay for an item that I never received???

I will really appreciate it if someone help with this.

What was the ETA of the parcel ? You only have 30 days after the final ETA to open a case with eBay's MBG.

If it's past that then your other options are firstly a dispute with Paypal in their "Resolution Centre" or if that fails then a chargeback with your bank if you paid by credit card.

What does the tracking show ?

When you say you reported to Ebay - do you mean you just contacted Customer Support, or you actually opened a dispute?

The onus is on the buyer to check the status of their package and open disputes in a timely manner if the item doesn't arrive or is not as described.

Ebay is simply the middle man (so to speak) between you and the seller. Ebay is not responsible for sending your package, but they do give you all the tools you need to resolve any issues that arise.

Thanks for your response. I opened the case a few days after ETA. So, I was within that 30-day period. eBay refused to pay for the item, and I disputed the decision. They decided to hold the initial decision because the seller claims that the item has been delivered to the local post but that didn't say who the local post is and didn't provide a new tracking number.

I don't think PayPal and Bank will take responsibility when eBay refuses to reimburse.

I don't know how I can eBay customer service now that the case was closed from their side. I am stuck and don't know what else I can do.

Thanks for your response. Yes I meant I opened a refund case first, but the seller refused to reimburse. I disputed the decision, and eBay stepped in. eBay reviewed the case and decided to hold the initial decision because the seller claims that the item has been delivered to the local post (but they didn't say who the local post is and didn't provide a new tracking number). The tracking number in my eBay account do not show that the item is delivered, but the Canadian Post tracking shows that it is delivered to local post with no further information.

I don't know how I can contact eBay customer service now that the case was closed from their side. I really don't know what I can do, and it is so painful paying such big money out of pocket when I never received an item.

This is the tracking number that was provided on eBay: EE217293992CA

But this is for Canadian Post, and it says it is delivered locally. I don't have a local tracking number.

No I haven't, but there is no reason for PayPal or the bank to refund me for an item eBay item when eBay itself refuses to reimburse.

I have wasted so much time with PayPal in the past and have never managed to get any refund through them for items purchased through eBay. They will contat the seller like eBay did and the outcome will be the same.

Yes, don't be so dismissive of PayPal. I haven't opened a case in many years, but in the past I always won. You do need some information/details from the Post Office because if the tracking just says delivered in Chippendale then they cannot help you. You have to open an investigation so they look into it and hopefully remember if somebody signed for you or who signed for you.

I don't use Facebook, but those who do say they are quicker to respond on FB if you send them a message.
