eBay Harassment

I do not appreciate eBay's Harassment accusing me of not following "our Absive buyer policy" Is eBay suggesting that if a seller sells an item that isn't fit for a purpose, we should not exercise our right and request a refund?

I suggest eBay should vet their seller to determine if an item is fit for a purpose, especially a business seller.

The action of eBay is very disappointing.

It is scarcely “harassment” for eBay to follow its own policies in dealing with behaviour they have deemed abusive under the relevant policy.

I don’t want to be accusatory or make you feel as though you need to defend yourself; I’m saying this purely on the basis of knowing how relatively rare it is for a buyer to be chastised by eBay. You must have done more than simply “request a refund”. Many buyers have requested refunds when necessary and appropriate. If a seller offers full refund on return of item, and provided the means of returning the item, it is a very smooth process. There are also other options to sorting out problems, as per the MBG.

For you to be hit with a warning from eBay as you describe, I can only repeat that there must be a lot more to this story. I suggest you don’t post a defence (and hence more details) on these public boards unless you want to run the risk of being blocked by many sellers. Instead of being offended, work out what you did that may have triggered the warning, and see if you can achieve a return and refund in future (if it happens to be necessary) without any issue or problem.

I do not believe you should make such comments without knowing the fact and failed to understand why you are defending eBay's action. I welcome eBay to do their own investigation.

Assumingly you are just an eBay user how would you know how rare it is for eBay to issue such email?

eBay is always all about the buyer

And eBay have always allowed buyers to do as the want, say as they want and ignore all

Just read through the forum at any of the thousands of posts from sellers who have been scammed, false claims, threatening messages, having buyers threaten harm to them etc etc etc and eBay side with the buyer by refusing to act in any way

Yes, people here are indeed other members who know because we see eBay shield defend and protect buyers no matter what

Take it up with eBay if you have an issue with eBay

But don’t expect more than a couple of other members to automatically jump up and down and you are being cautioned for no reason

we have no clue what the story is

I have sold genuine items on eBay so far no never has an issue. I'm sure there is a lot of buyer out there was taken advantage of with none genuine items and I believe if an item is not fit for purpose then a refund is warranted and yes I will take it up with eBay.

Yes, you are perfectly entitled to ask for a refund or open an ebay claim if you've been sold a faulty product.

It sounds as if the seller reported you to ebay though over the actual message you sent.

What exactly did you say in the message?

I think ebay probably lumps quite a few things under the title abusive. It may not necessarily mean you swore or used bad language. Did you keep the message factual and only report the fault with your item or did you widen the discussion and maybe accuse the seller of trying to scam you or deliberately selling faulty products?

Did you suggest you would try to get the seller thrown off ebay or use emotive language eg disgusting, thief etc?

Have a think back & there must be something in your message that triggered ebay to send you the message they did.

eBay did not specified of which item, the last item I have purchased, I did request of refund from eBay directly. There was no communication with the seller.

Okay, in your request to ebay for a refund, I think you may have had to write the reason why you believed a refund was in order. I think the seller does get to see that request as they get a few days in which to reply & try to solve the problem.

Can you recall exactly what you said in the claim?

There must be something that the seller found offensive and reported to ebay.

If you just said the item was not fit for purpose or you believed it to be non genuine, I don't think ebay would send that message.

Did you accuse the seller of being a scammer and trying to pass off fakes, or something like that?

Was it the last seller you left feedback for? That seller seems indeed to be a scammer, or maybe their account has been hacked. They have been getting neg fb since they joined. I would not buy from them in the first place.

Would certainly make sense, if it is that seller in question then in choosing to buy from a seller with that many negs that said seller would report any and all complaints/ disputes they receive

But 'harassment' by definition would be more than a one off bot automated thing from eBay

Unless of course said seller is pretending to be someone from eBay who is behind it which could be likely also

I give up then as I would not have thought that was abusive. All I can think of is the seller may have taken offence at the word fake and reported the message. But if it is not a ceramic coating as advertised I would think you should still be entitled to a refund.

Not harassment (unless you are being bombarded with repeat messages).

Looks like you fell foul of the abusive buyer policy, no one here knows for what reason, false claims, excessive claims etc.

Not much point whining, all covered by T&C's, Policies, that you agreed to, and does not detract from your consumer rights, if any.

Out of curiosity, who certified the item was fake

Not much point in you leaving FB, as you have been deemed to be in breach of the abusive buyer policy, the seller is protected against any FB you may leave.

How do you propose Ebay do this, should they go and inspect every item before they are listed'.

You have no idea about the costs of running a platform such as this. And dealing with customers (buyers and sellers)

Imagine the fee they would have to charge to to personally vet every item you have listed.

Hi Springy, the abusive buyer policy, is not restricted to abusive language. It also includes abuse of the MBG policy and abuse of the returns policy. As such the breach does not have to be restricted to a single claim, ebay keep track of claims, and a breach can be advised due to excessive claims. From memory for ebay plus members, claims records are checked automatically, to ensure against excessive claims. So a sellers report is not always required.

So I guess, I should stop buying from eBay. It is general knowledge the more a person buy the more things can go wrong.
