EBay complaint

In March 2023, I bought an item from an eBay shop. Item has never worked properly despite being advertised as “new, AU stock, Warranty”. Seller had ‘No Returns’ activated so I cannot use the usual return functions. I have made numerous attempts to contact the seller since April, to no avail, until this week when they claim to be unable to find my order…I sent the order # and have heard nothing since. How does one make a complaint to eBay?

You should have opened an item not as described case earlier, why wait 7 months it must not have being so bad.

Did you try by using this account or another account, as this was was only created in April

No returns is change of mind only

Doubtful there was a warranty 'Au stock' screams seller registered in China

Too late now to do anything. You had the tools and chose not to use them

You don't get to 'complain' after all this time

Learn how things work, so you won't have the same issue again

When you see the word 'warranty' in an ebay ad, it is usually worthless.

Ebay itself has a money back guarantee if you receive a defective item or if your item doesn't arrive. But you need to claim that within 30 days.

A warranty is an entirely different thing and ebay is not in the business of enforcing warranties.

Your seller has no obligation to do a thing after all this time.

If you buy on ebay and something doesn't work, you need to open an ebay claim immediately.

When you buy a name brand item from a retail store & it has a warranty, you have somewhere to go if the item breaks down. On ebay, unless you are buying from an authorised seller, you've got nothing. They could offer you a 100 year warranty and you'd still have nothing. People can say virtually anything on the internet & especially if your seller is overseas, it can't be enforced.

I am afraid you are stuck with your defective item. Next time, don't buy that sort of thing or anything electronic etc on ebay.

Occasionally some people here had some luck with PayPal in such cases, but it is apparently at their discretion to refund or not with meaningless warranties.

Sadly, if you bought the item in March, it is now too late for PayPal too, as you only have 180 days since the date of purchase to open a case with them, so I am afraid you are now stuck with your defective item, as Springy said.

The joke of the day contender must be really peeved.

My ebay satisfaction rating is 100%, but then again I understand how ebay works, there policies, T&C,s and most importantly how to communicate with ebay CS.

i tried to contact the seller many times, the first time was within a month of the purchase. I purchased as a guest and opened the account when the product appeared as faulty. Best not to jump to conclusions.

This is Australia, not China. The ACL provides 12 months warranty if an item is not fit for purpose. EBay is operating here under Australian law. Why do I not get to complain after 7 months?

They did'nt jump to conclusions

No need to contact the seller many times, obviously they had no intention of doing anything, so contacting them 'several times' was not going to help you

Even as a guest you could have opened a dispute

Even as a guest you are given the tools if things are'nt right

Even as a guess, all the replies you have had still stand

And as said, it is now far too late to make a complaint

Even as a guest, you the buyer have all the power

eBay are not going to do anything after all this time

Obviously not what you wanted other members to tell you, but most folks here give factual answers based on eBay policy

No need to respond to everyone who answered you

Your time would be better spent learning buying basics

And 'Australian consumer law' does not apply to sellers in China

Nor would it when you did not follow eBay policy

Learn how to read a thread. My post was not directed to or at you,nor was it an attack on your ability to spell.

It was directed at Brevo who was spamming numerous threads.

As far as Australian consumer law, it does not apply to international purchases, nor does it apply to non business sellers, and it does not relate to ebay in relation to your purchase, from whatever seller you bought from.

Let's make it crystal clear for you............

1. eBay's MBG only applies up to 30 days after the item's ETA.

2. Paypal's limit for a claim is 180 days after the purchase date.

3. Warranties on eBay only apply if the seller is an Australian certified seller/reseller or the manufacturer of the product.

In ALL 3 of those scenarios you fail to have grounds for a refund.

So go and take on eBay under Australian consumer law

Then, as said, learn how eBay works

You don't get to complain because you are not special. Like or not all policies apply to you

You choose to do nothing so you get nothing
