How do you search for items?

Changes to the eBay Top-rated seller program
As buyer expectations continue to evolve, the eBay Top-rated seller program needs to keep pace. In 2013, a number of changes will be introduced to the seller standards program on eBay.com.au. Listings from Top-rated sellers that provide these buyer experiences - including 0-1 day handling time, free postage with an express postage option and 30-day money back returns, will receive higher rankings within best match.

With the new changes coming to ebay next year just wondering how do you search for your items?

With the exception of Best Match, all of the above plus a couple of other options - it all depends on what I'm looking for, what kind of listings I want to include / exclude etc, even use Price + Postage highest first quite often to make it easier to quickly locate certain items.

The only time I've ever used best match is to have a look at my own listing's position, and when I'm reasearching other things (filtering to Buy It Now, Best Match in flooded categories can be interesting).

I search by Lowest first if I am not in a hurry for the item, or if I am just looking to see what I might have to pay.

If I need it in a hurry I go for Ending Soonest.

I have never used Best Match since I sussed out how to avoid it....it was never the Best Match for what I wanted to buy.:O

Just thinking back to some recent purchases, I usually type in what I'm after and let Best Match sort it out. I'm someone who sometimes scours page after page looking for that special deal and it doesn't take all that long to do a few pages. But sometimes I'll look for Lowest Price + Postage and see what the best value is within the cheapest few items. Sometimes it's not necessarily the cheapest that wins but the best condition or how the seller markets it.

I rarely use Ending Soonest, even though it's a popular choice among people here. I rarely need it urgently, so that's probably why. For things that I'm not sure about buying, I'll add to my Watch List and make the decision in the last 24 hrs or so.

I simply Google. This gives me a comprehensive list of all available items irrespective of the site it is listed on.

I then select the item I want to buy.

First Lowest Price, then in the following days if I haven't found what I was looking for Newly Listed.

I always search by ending soonest; sometimes I might then narrow the search; maybe by distance (for pick up items) or by price.

That shows the cheapest options. Seems logical to me.

As a matter of principle I won't use 'best' match. What's best for eBay is almost certainly not best for me.

Most of the options, except for Best Match.

Of course it's the most common option. Surely when you are buying things, you don't try and find the most expensive one?

coops a lot I know search for newly listed to get that great buy now bargain that is listed cheaply before others spot it.

Lowest first and ending soonest. Rarely use anything else.

1/ Lowest price including delivery first

2/ Items from Australia then rest of world if I can't get it here

3/ Buy It Now (because I can't be bothered with auction & I usually want it NOW) 😄

4/ Look at the feedback to make sure the seller is OK

5/ I will buy out of what's left out my criteria. It will not necessarily be the lowest price if their feedback is dodgy but it will be the lowest price with good feedback

I am just a stardard Ending Soonest searcher

But the Items located in Australia button needs to be on the side with everything else, not in the Advanced Search area
