Yet you seem to have no issue with dodgy buyers (not saying the OP in this case, but other posts you have <STRIKE>spammed</STRIKE> commented on where you have)

And never once ways to avoid issues in the first place

Just simply 'go to some other random site' (mostly dodgy ones)

Anyone who had a genuine concern about buyer's buyers not being 'ripped off' would be giving factual information

Not simply telling people to buy elsewhere because they also failed to follow proper process/policy/check feedback and had an issue which was 100% avoidable and would have been solved had they chosen to use the tools they were given

Buyer have all the power to stop helping to keep the dodgy sellers in business

How do you figure the seller in *this* case was dodgy?

Not their fault the buyer did not check what they were buying

And again, sellers are not obligated to jump on the spot and instantly cancel

Easier to spam the forum though

So long

If you have been using eBay as a buyer and a seller, you would know how the basics work

eBay makes an item as 'posted' as soon as a label is generated

You have no way of knowing if the seller was online and generated a label as soon as they saw it sold

The buyer cannot cancel, only the seller and they are not obligated to do so

Better still, don't buy something if you are going to try to cancel after 5 minutes, wasting the seller's time and possibly costing them a genuine sale

eBay are not going to notice if you leave or not due to having one issue, totally of your own making

Hi allanzshop,

I can see that you're a buyer and a seller so you've seen a cancellation from both sides.

eBay has introduced the new rules to supposedly make it easier for a buyer.

"When feasible, it’s recommended to accept the request, especially if it’s sent within minutes or a few hours of an order being placed

"That's correct, and that is my complaint, the seller was informed that it was an error immediately and still they refused to cancel the order"

i seriously have to ask what kind of seller would go ahead and actually post an item to a buyer who really doesn't want the item and has asked to cancel.

Well - the fact still remains - a buyer cannot cancel a sale - cancel order button or not.

This can only be done through a request to the seller - and hoping the seller agrees.

Which it seems they have done.

I think some of the ebay tabs and information that customers can see is quite misleading.

It can leave buyers with the impression that if they buy something and realise they have made a mistake or wish to cancel, they can automatically do so as long as they do it immediately, within minutes.

This is not so. The buyer is asking the seller to cancel but the seller does not have to do so. Ebay does advise sellers that it is in their best interests to allow it though if it is requested within minutes or hours.

It looks as if you seller has had a change of heart and refunded but you are lucky.

I do believe customer service is important and I also know how easy it is to make mistakes when buying online. Ebay would be one of the few sites I know of though where you can even ask for a cancellation. Some other sites will allow changes within the hour but not an outright cancellation.

I don't know what you ordered but what I have found has worked for me on rare occasions when something was wrong, is I have been able to quickly contact a seller and change the order eg to a different size. Most sellers are cooperative.

But probably the most important thing to avoid hassles is to double check everything before you buy, so you don't need to cancel within 5 minutes.
