Import duty.

I'm watching an item which is currently jus over GBP100 and Ebay shows it has import fees of GBP 15 +

Why do I have to pay this when in Australia there is no tax on 2nd hand goods, GST or import.

Just about coming to the end of using Ebay after some 20+ years with all their fees , restrictions they have put on. I remember the good old days when it was mum and dads selling and Ebay grew huge but then the greed set in and they are not interested in the old type sellers, protect scammers as no contact with buyer and sellers, I think I have made up my mind and going to leave, they can try all they like but they never will be like Amazon.

Because there is and has been for a few years.

eBay, like EVERY other online selling site, is required to collect GST on imports under 1000AUD.

It is Commonwealth law. No exceptions.

Wrong! GST applies to all imports, new or used, and also applies to postage.

Really??? I'm a dad, but until recently I was both mum and dad.... and I'm selling on eBay. This is not your so called "good old days" (although I was selling here at that time as well) - this is now, today, in the present - and I'm still selling here.

If you want to leave, nobody's going to try talking you out of it. If you don't like the fees, you don't have to use the site. It's also not an airport, bus terminal or train station - there's absolutely no need to announce your departure.
