"Watch out if you buy sparks plugs. Make sure you check them on receipt"

"from a seller with a lot of inventory"

The seller has an inventory of 16,000 items and thousands of positive feedback.

Not all from buyers, some automated from eBay, but I also think in this category, sellers are more prone to negative and neutral feedback. Yes, the seller should have responded to you.

Realistically though if you purchase any item online ( I'm not referring to large electrical items with a warranty)

from anywhere and there's a problem

eg. You order an item of clothing and are sent the wrong size - it happens

Or even if you purchase in a store , take it home and find a fault,

The 'general' rule is 30 days for a return not a couple of months.

Watch out if you buy sparks plugs. Make sure you check them on receipt, that is, check the gap and check that the part number on the plug corresponds to the one advertised.

I thought I was getting a great deal on auto parts from a seller with a lot of inventory, but didn’t get around to checking them for a couple of months, & then found they were not the plugs advertised (wrong gap, not suitable for my car & could damage my engine if installed).

But by then it was over the 30 day limit for return or even feedback, & seller couldn’t bother even responding to message.

All buyers should check everything on arrival

Nothing is going to be covered by the ebay MBG if it is more than 30 days past the latest estimated delivery date

What was the item number?

Where is the seller registered?

Just because they have a lot of inventory does not mean they are a good seller

But the fact the seller did not reply indicates they are not a good seller (or else they could have replied with 'nothing they can do as it is too late for a return')

I guess this is a wake up call to make sure you check out any purchase from anywhere soon after buying.

It can get tricky at times, especially if you've bought something as a gift and don't want to damage packaging etc but unless you intend to use or give it away within the month, you need to pre check.

The seller should have sent a reply. He should have a standard one available that just says something along the lines of there is only a 30 day period for returns.

Possibly, he felt that after a couple of months, you could not open a return and could not give feedback, plus he may have assumed you could have made a mistake and ordered the wrong part anyway & it wasn't his fault, so he decided to just ignore it.
