Problem with a seller

A few weeks ago I purchased an item on Ebay, 3 times I contacted the seller asking him for his bank details,and he sent me everything except the name of his Bank. He has now put a bidders non payment on me,but hasn,t lefy me negative feedback.

Should I just ignore this but I feel that I should expose him..not sure what to do,

Did he offer Paypal? If not, why not? If so, why are you trying to gift him money? You have NO buyer protection if you pay by bank deposit.

Plus, a simple search of the BSB would tell what bank it belonged to. Branch, as well.

A seller can't leave negative feedback. They probably got fed up with not being paid. You can pay or not, up to you. If you don't you will get a strike.

What would you expose him for? Not getting paid by a VERY experienced member?

Pay for the item through paypal, get your purchase and leave feedback you feel reflects the service you have recieved. You don't need the name of the bank - just the BSB number.

If you google the bsb number it will tell you which banking insitution it belongs to.

I much prefer to use paypal, bank deposit is too iffy.

If the buyer wishes to direct deposit into a branch of the seller's bank then they do need to know which bank to go to and there really is no excuse for the seller not replying with the information. Unless the seller re-invoices or the buyer contacts ebay and they will reset checkout the buyer cannot just change their mind and pay with Paypal.

I am sure that ebay will overturn any non payment strike on appeal as one if the valid reasons for not paying is not being able to contact the seller plus the fact that vital information is missing.

I hope the OP now realises that they should use Paypal in the first place to avoid these problems and also give themselves buyer protection.

Must be different for different banks. I do not need to know the bank to make a transfer - just the bsb, account name, and account number.

But you do need to know what bank it is if you are going to go to a branch and make the deposit.

Not everyone uses internet banking.

OP has 1000 fb. Presumably they could find the information by searching the BSB. Given they have to have internet access to play on eBay.

Dave, there are plenty of members who come to the boards who are old hands at ebay but simply refuse to use internet banking. They are quite convinced that they are going to lose every $ in their accounts.

I don't understand it myself, but they are out there.
