Greed? that's a bit harsh... I bid for an item, won it - my max bid was much higher than $610, but that's what I got it for.

Stating I would love a thermie for that price is just the truth and wouldn't anyone take a bargain like that?

I cannot afford to call a consultant and pay $1950, that doesn't change the fact that a thermie would save me heaps of time in the kitchen as a working mum with 4 kids and a busy (non-cook) of a hubby... hence, why I stalk eBay for the elusive 'bargains of the century' and in my years on here I have snagged many of those bargains.

This one wasn't to be one of those bargains but it's not greedy to wish it so. My common sense has saved me from paying via bank deposit and this post is in the hope of saving any of those who may be a little too tempted by the thought of their bargain thermie.

Just a heads up for anyone winning/bidding on the Thermomixes

The seller offers paypal in the listings but is using Country Monitor Risk Control settings to refuse payment via paypal once in checkout. The seller is then sending bank account information for a Bank of China account.

PLEASE - do not send any money unless you are able to pay via paypal.

One buyer has recently left a negative for an item (not a thermie) that they were unable to purchase with paypal and they stated no contact from the seller.

BUYERS BEWARE!

I'm not surprised at all... Just posting here in the hopes that maybe someone thinking about paying via bank deposit might check here first.

I thought it worth a bid, I have an rrp $900 juicer from Korea that I got for $99, it is not always a scam or a fake product.

In this case, it is!

I won for $610 but plenty of the bids were over the $1200 mark, I would hate to see some trusting buyer send that kind of money to a bank account and get nothing.

At this stage eBay is not prepared to do anything so I am posting a warning, just in case. There is also the crazy possibility that someone may pay via bank deposit and have a thermomix sitting on their doorsteps in a few weeks... remote possibility, but still - until the feedback's in we can't know. Some of the items ended on the 8th Sep so most of those people will either be opening disputes or are sitting back with their fingers crossed.

That is only 10 days ago. Most mail from China takes 2 weeks+ to get here and buyers are generally advised to wait 3-4 weeks before opening a dispute.

I've looked into thermomixes too, and who wouldn't love one for a cheap price. A while back, there were Spanish sellers with them, though they were still well over $1000 mark.

Can I just give you a few words of advice here.

Dont do it.

Not for $600, not for $1200.

Thermomix has the rights all sewn up in Australia and if you don't buy from a distributor here, you will never be able to get the item repaired here or buy parts. If you buy here, the voltage and instruction booklet will be suited for Australia (right voltage and in English).

You will be able to go to demo classes any time you want to.

Ebay is good for a lot of things, but a thermomix from overseas-avoid it.

You may be able to buy a second hand one on ebay, but check it was bought here in Australia.

Have you considered the thermochef? It is half the price and some people swear by it.

I don't have either, so I can't say how they compare but they look similar.

A friend has cook4me which hasn't all the bells and whistles, but she says it is excellent too and it is only $289 at Harvey Normans.

Just had a look, out of interest.

On ebay, there are a couple of sellers, one in Qld and one in Sydney (and there may be others) who are selling what look to be really good second hand models, barely used and almost new. Their prices are around the $1400 mark but the Qld seller says she is willing to put in any warranty claim if it came to that. The machines are still under warranty and bought in Aust. Something like that would be your best bet. Good luck.

You've just dodged scam listings and scammers generally don't reply to messages,(they will now have your

Email addy so be careful of any phishing Emails you may receive purporting to be from eBay or PP)

Both sellers have 0 feedback are newly registered, items at well below their true price and had them as 3 day

listings.

Classic scam listings,(they have gone through to completed so hopefully the buyers have paid via PP and

backed by a credit card).

Reported but it's the weekend so no action will be taken,

I was sure it was a scam too. Waiting to see if the buyers leave negative or positive feedback over the next couple of weeks. It will be interesting if they receive their items at all. I know if too good to be true it's usually no good1

I wish I had hit the "buy it now" button to see whether paypal was an actual option to pay. If the buyers get ripped off hopefully ebay and/or paypal will refund their money!
