make an offer rip off

I made an offer and included my terms which stated offer includes postage. The offer was accepted but they invoiced plus postage. I objected so they cancelled the transaction saying I no longer wanted the item. I rejected the offer to cancel because they accepted my offer with terms. Resolution centre has closed the case saying seller says I don't want the item. How do I contact eBay for a fair go. Don't know how to even leave feedback as they say time has ended.

When you make an offer the terms state that you are making the offer for the goods only....you still have to pay the postage as stated on the listing.

I think you will find that this statement over-rides anything you may put in your terms.

The word include was supposed to go in my first post not the word included so it should have read Your offer can not include postage cost, my bad

I made an offer the other day on an item,I offered to pay $1.49 less than the asking price an low and behold the seller declined my offer so I said why offer a make an offer in the first place? The seller was asking $36.99 I offered $35.50

its not a rip off postage is not included in the make an offer

this is only making an offer on the buy it now price of the item

i put auto accept at certain prices it saves me missing any offers

and if someone offered me only a $1 or $2-off a $30+item i would of accepted thats a pretty good offer

well, there are offers and there are counter offers - but won't get into it now.

OP, as eBay clearly says that the offer price does not include postage, the seller may have accepted your offer not realizing you intended for it to include the postage (mmaybe they just read the price and went "whooppee! I'm happy with that"

In future what you need to do if you want the postage included is to subtract the advertised postage amount from your offer.

I did think the seller could change the postage price on their invoice if they wanted to, so that is why I think that they didn't realize that your offer included postage.

I would summize that the seller is in the wrong as they did accept the terms of your offer, they could have counteroffered and said nope that price PLUS postage, but they did accept your offer.

so even though eBay's policy says postage not included (it would be just for clarity I think), the acceptance of your offer would have over ridden that. As negotiations can occur up until the time of acceptance.

so I don't believe that the seller can now charge you postge, however, are you prepared to take him to court to enforce the contract?

Putting in an offer of $1.50 less than the BIN is amazing, I wonder why they would waste a buyers' time like that..

I would normally have the auto accept set at about $22.00 on a $30.00 item.

nah, anyone can offer and counter offer (not sure how many times eBay system allows you to do this - but it is 3 seperate offers on one item - not sure if there is a limit to negotiations following one offer though) It's all part of negotiating the terms of the contract to a position that both parties agree on before acceptance occurs

how long ago did this all happen, you have 60 days to leave feedback. My guess is an UID was opened against you and then when you didn't pay, it was closed and you were given a strike.

Contact eBay like this

To the top right of your screen is a tab marked "Customer Support"

click on that.

On the next screen (if you really look hrd cos they are not very obvious) you will find two tabs on the left hand side about 2 inches from the top - 2 lines under the coloured eBay logo.

They are "Find an Answer" or "Contact eBay"

Click on "Contact eBay"

You will then have a choice of "buying", "Selling" or "My Account" on the left hand side.

Hover over "Buying" and this will reveal a drop down menu of a fair few options.

I'm thinking to choose either "Paying for Items" on the left hand side or "Appeal Unpaid item" on the right hand side

I suggest "Paying for items" on the right hand side as it will provide you with a 1800 number to contact eBay immediately by phone and hopefully get some kind of resolution on the spot.

The other option only gives you the option to email and well, email isn't always instant and it is likely you will get a standard C&P answer that indicates they didn't read or comprehend your issue.

I agree with you totally,that's why I thought my offer would have been excepted no questions asked.I think alot of sellers that have make an offer in their listings are hoping that no one bothers with making an offer and just BINs

i.e. I'll offer you $100 for ten dooberhickies rather than $15 for one?

Yes some do,most that I have dealt with actually only give you a postage discount but I think that sellers shouldn't give you a make an offer if their not willing to be fair dinkum about it.When I sell and use make an offer on an item I'm more than happy to except a 20% discount.

I imagine if the seller had auto-acceptance set they probably didn't even know the offer was postage included. Given that it's not supposed to be, by eBay's rules, I can't see how you reckon the seller is at fault.

well, I wsn't thinking about automatic acceptance ones, I was thinking of manual ones, hence my reference to the seller reading the offer and his possible resulting reaction.

With this in mind, do you think that you could find it within your heart to forgive me for the semi - non quantifing nature of my post? I would be forever grateful, and may even kiss your ~~butt~~ feet.
