Hi, i have just won a bed auction. Immediately following the auction i contacted the seller to arrange payment upon pick up. What is considered a reasonable amount of time to wait for a reply?. ( they have relisted another bed that didn't sell at auction which finished just before the bed that i won but i haven't heard back from them regarding mine ).

apart from anything else, it is a beautiful sunny day here in Mildura. Great for being outdoors.

The seller may be out and not in front of their computer. If they are wanting the bed picked up this weekend they will be in touch. Did you give them your mobile number so that they can call you to arrange a pickup time?

Hi, i realise they may not be at their computer... it is the first time that i have won an item that is to be picked up, so i was just wondering what was considered a reasonable reply time.. ie.. one, two, three days etc... and no i haven't given my number as they haven't replied yet... thanks 🙂

The speed with which a seller responds will be dependent on how quickly they want the item picked up. Some sellers send a message as soon as a listing ends, while others wait for the buyer to make contact. Some sellers who aren't happy with the final price will make things a little difficult for buyers through restrictive pickup times/hours in a hope the buyer will ask for cancellation of transaction. If the bed is from the seller in Mildura, then they have no feedback as a seller and may be unsure of how things proceed after a sale, including the protocols of arranging a pickup time.

When I win pickup items I always include my mobile number in the first message I send to sellers. Something along the lines of:

"Thanks for listing this item on eBay. My mobile no. is 0438 XXX XXX if you would like to phone or SMS to arrange a time for pickup and payment in cash. Thanks again, k1ooo" (I do, however, use my real first name in the message and not k1ooo)

Then, I just sit back and wait for a call or SMS. Only after they call/SMS do I ask for the address for pickup if they do not give it. Don't want to seem too needy/impatient on the first message.
