I was sent the wrong shoe size - please help

I purchased 2 pairs of size 8 shoes from different sellers.

The first pair has sole size 39/245 conversion: 39=size 6 Aust. 245=size 7 Aust

The second has sole size 240 which is size 5 Aust.

The first seller has requested I post shoes back and receive a refund.

My question is: why do I have to pay for the return postage when the size was incorrectly described?

The short answer is because the seller won't.

The long answer isn't any better - most good sellers will ensure their buyers aren't out of pocket for a mistake they (the seller) made, but there's pretty much nothing you can do to make the seller pay for return postage.

BTW - did the seller explicitly say that the cost of return postage would not be refunded?

No, the seller didn't mention paying for the return postage, so I assume they won't.

Both shoes arrived in Express bags.

One arrived in it's shoe box.

Do you think I can return them without the shoe box to make it cheaper? Or could they demand it back?

Postage for these shoes will be costing me about $40

I think before you make any decisions about postage, you should clarify the seller's terms for a refund. You may find that they will be willing to pay for the return postage.

I would be sending them back exactly as they arrived, so that would have to include the shoe box - will they fit in a normal 3kg pre-paid satchel? They're about $12 or so plus $3 to register.

If the sellers won't cover return postage, I would consider negotiating a partial refund and on-selling the shoes, though I would be a bit unimpressed about it.

As a shoe seller both those describe sizes are different and not a size 8 IMO to start with and if they are an oversea's seller and no offense if they are but I am yet to see one of them get our AU sizing right EVER. I have been online shoe trader for about 10 years before it was as popular as it is now.

You should return the shoes in the box if it is supplied to you as it must be returned in the same condition. I would need to see the listings to determine if the item is not as describe however I can tell from what you have already supplied that both items you purchased, thinking they are a size 8 are infact 2 different size 240 is one size 245 is another. So Listing information would be needed.

I can see 3 different pairs of shoes that you have purchased...none of them have any measurements.

If you have not worn those shoes before you should have asked for measurements as all makes of shoes are different.

Hi I sell shoes to if you buy from and Australian seller here are your following correct shoe sizes note this is onY an Australian seller sizes.

AU size 5 European size 36 uk size 3

Au size 6 European size 37 uk size 4

Au size 7 European size 38 uk size 5

Au size 8 European size 39 uk size 6

Au size 9 European size 40 uk size 7

Au size 10 European size 41 uk size 8

And so on

Looks to me like both sellers sold you an appropriate size 8

39 European

Amd a uk size 6

Both of these sizes are a. Australian size 8

However as other pos have stated you need to ask some questions get some measurements. Inner sole length is the most important.

I also noticed on your feedback left for other seller is that. You said 25cm inner sole is a size 7 this is. It correct 25cm is generally a size 8 I have yet to see a size 7 inner sole being 25cm. I'm not sure what size conversion you are going on but it is not a typical Australia size conversion. But most of them are incorrect. Ebays size conversion is also incorrect.

Well think of it this way, if you purchased something from a shop that was not right, or you were not happy, you would have to go to that shop and request a refund or exchange. That's the way I look at it.
