Thanks to all for the advice. Just an update, on Wed this week, I paid someone else by bank transfer and the funds were in their account the same day, and that was from two different banking groups. At the same time on Wed, I transferred funds to my paypal account, and it left my bank account later in the day, yet, it is still showing as "processing'' in my paypal account! I wish paypal would stop using the "clearing house'' excuse on these delays, because it is not a cheque, it is cash moving, yes, moving into their bank account for a few days of free use. It;s about time everyone got together on this and did something about it, instead of accepting it as the normal thing with paypal, and just putting up with it. I mean why is paypal the only one that has this delay when no other bank is getting away with it?

Hi all, would it be possible to unlink a bank account from paypal and just transfer funds when needed to pay for something. I am totally sick of Paypal just playing money games with my account, and taking ''borrowing" money free of charge for almost a week after a directed payment is cancelled, yet still taken from my account, twice I must add. I know it will slow the purchase down a couple of days, but that's better than chasing "stolen funds".

You can remove a bank account and still withdraw funds, but I don't think it's possible to add funds or use PayPal to pay with bank funds without one on file - the [validated] account on file acts as a standing authorisation for PayPal to access and debit the account, but if it wasn't linked, the account wouldn't be validated and PayPal couldn't confirm the account ownership and therefore your authority to grant access to it.

After paypal did this to me a few years ago in error as funds were available in my primary account, I opened a dedicated bank account for withdrawals with strict guidance to the bank there was to be no overdraft whatsoever and if the funds were not in the account to bounce the payment back as insufficient funds.

I also have a bank account that i deposit paypal funds to and it has a blanket ban on any attempt of a paypal initiated withdrawal - again a request I made to my bank and had no probs getting into place.
