Inconsistent incoherent seller details

There is a listing of toyota kluger grande 2009 for $9,200 with address location as NSW, yet the seller says its based in New Zealand, doesn't reveal a phone number, asks you to contact him on<REMOVED FOR PRIVACY> and his wife insists you send $4,000 through western Union so he will be sure you will meet him when he drives the car from New Zealand to Australia (by road), has anyone has this experience?

It is a scam.

Report the seller. eBay prohibits the use of any wire transfer services, especially Western Union.

It is against eBay rules to publish private information on the boards, especially of another member, so you post will hopefully be edited shortly.

I had a friend who was looking to buy a Toyota Corolla on ebay. The seller was supposedly based in Germany and wanted a deposit sent to a PO Box in Bowral. Supposedly when it was received, he would arrange for a 'friend' to drive the car to Sydney for my friend to test drive it.

Ebay advised my friend not to touch the sale and investigated. Apparently this is a common occurence, although I have never heard of a car being driven from NZ to Oz before. I hope the Kluger has a bloody good snorkle!

It may also have some water damage if he is driving it from NZ.

Come on really,,,, how many red flags do you need thown up in your face before it screams SCAM. First one. $9000 for Toyota Kluger, Two, no phone number. Three. Its not in Australia, Four. Demand $4000 wire transfer. And lets not forget the line about driving from NZ to AU.
