I returned the drive in a medium-sized padded envelope which was just under 20mm thick and weighed 247g so it qualified as a large letter (as it would have done up to 500g).

Exemplary sellers

It seems that all we ever read in here are complaints about bad sellers so I thought it might be nice instead to give some credit where it's due. In the last few days I've had the absolute pleasure of dealing with 2 of the nicest and most honourable sellers I've ever encountered on ebay. Even though this is praise, and not a complaint, I don't suppose I can name them here, so I'll simply call them Sellers 1 & 2.

Seller 1: I bought a Dell PR01X dock / port replicator including a 90W power supply for my old Dell D400 laptop which was listed for $9 plus $10 postage. When it arrived, it was in its original box, was in brand new condition, and I couldn't have been happier, as the required high current power supply alone generally sells for at least $29 on ebay.

However, the postage stamps on the box indicated that he had actually paid $16 to send it, and by the time his ebay FVF and Paypal fees had been deducted from the $19 sale, he would have been left with no profit at all so I immediately logged into Paypal and sent him another $10 as a gift payment (no fees payable) and the email he sent to thank me made me feel even more gratified than when the item initially arrived.

Seller 2: I bought a PD01X external USB housing with CD/RW-DVD-ROM drive, also for my D400 laptop, for $29 including postage and it too was in almost brand new condition. Unfortunately however, the drive inside the housing was not a CD/RW but only a DVD-ROM so I emailed the seller to let him know.

He was extremely apologetic and asked me to return the drive only, and he would send me the correct drive in return, so I duly packed it up and took it to the PO where it cost me only $3.10 to return as a large letter. The very next day, before my drive could have even left Brisbane, the postie turned up with an Express Post package containing not only the correct CD/RW-DVD-ROM drive, but also a brand new Sony 4Gb SD card, and Sony 16Gb USB drive by way of apology!

Not only that, but I also received an email from Paypal, informing me that the seller had credited my Paypal account with $5 to cover my return postage, plus an email from the seller yet again apologising profusely for his error.

Needless to say, both sellers are now on my Saved Sellers list and I will be making a point of buying from both of them again should the need arise. I know we only ever hear about the bad sellers on the boards so I wanted to let you to know that there are some really decent, honourable, and highly ethical sellers out there who really deserve our business.

Nice to hear, but can you name that post office for all of us.........can't send anything larger that a letter around for under 8 bucks, so that drive going for that price is certainly a bargain. lol
