If it is the Fireman Sam outfit then the seller is not asking you to pay via their website. They have explained that Paymate is fully integrated into the ebay Checkout system.

If you want to pay by a safe payment method you have no choice but to use Paymate as they do not accept paypal.

http://www.paymate.com/cms/index.php/resources/fraud-protection/buyer-protection-program

Paymate has a similar buyer protection program to Paypal, so is considered a safe payment method by eBay. The above link explains Paymate's buyer protection. your credit card will also offer you protection through a chargeback if something goes wrong. But you should be able to pay for it through eBay checkout if it is an accepted payment method on the listing.

Yes, Paymate does provide buyer protection but I'm more interested that their listing states "Our PAYPAL account is: [deleted]" when it's quite clear from elsewhere that they only accept Paymate (which means you have to pay via credit card) or bank deposit.

However, if you do pay by Paymate which requires a credit card, you also have the added protection of being able to request a chargeback if the goods don't arrive and the seller isn't prepared to do anything about it.

Report the seller for offering to sell off ebay. Its against the rules i believe. How do ebay get there fees for the sale? Its sellers like that who make ebay change rules that adversely affect all other sellers.

Oops too slow, lyndal got in first.

bsal, I don't believe the seller is asking the OP to trade off ebay if it is the seller I mentioned.

The listing is quite specific that Paymate is fully integrated into the Checkout system so there would be no need for any contact with buyers if they just paid.

The whole process is explained in detail when they point out that they do not used paypal but do use Paymate.

Do you mean they want you to purchase through their website, not ebay, to avoid fvfs? If that is the case then report them for trading off ebay. If Paymate was the only safe payment method offered in the ebay listing then you will have to use that but you should definitely use the pay now link in ebay. If they list Paypal as a payment method in the ebay listing then they cannot refuse to accept it.

PJ the seller only lists Paymate and are at pains to point out that they do not use paypal but that Paymate is an ebay approved safe payment method They also point out that it is fully integrated into the ebay Checkout.

I really cannot see how the seller is at fault here.

I am wondering if the OP is confusing off ebay with the Paymate site.

The seller really needs to revise his listings because about halfway down on the right, he clearly states that he does take Paypal and even gives his full Paypal email address. I'd say his template needs a bloody good overhaul myself.
