private bidder question

A private bidder won the item with zero seconds on the clock. Also I didn't get any outbid notice. is this normal ?

Impossible with 0 seconds on the clock, but possible if there were a few seconds left.

The fact they are private is irrelevant.

NFI about the email sorry, but even if we do get one (and I think we might, I do recall seeing emails telling me to bid again, I think) you wouldn't have received it in time to bid again if they placed a snipe bid in the last few seconds.

That type of thing happens occasionally to me and I just scratch my head. I did think it was auto bidding but it is not.

I beleive that with the latest cyber attack and I beleived this prior to this attack that there are suspect employees of ebay doing dodgy things to themselves and associates.

I have had so much Trouble with false sales and crooked members that have all been recorded with ebay and thst is not even coubnting the phishing tha i have received.

As such i will be clearing the decks and leaving ebay until such time they can demonstrate Security against these Criminal elements.

Also I have receive emails fom bogus PayPal purchases and I know that my Pay pal account has been comprmised.

Many people bid in the last couple of seconds, some use a snipe program and others do it manually and there is no time for ebay to send an outbid email with that timescale.

If somebody is a bit of a conspiracy theorist they may create new ids to bid on things, there is no prescription against doing that and the fact is if somebody is prepared to pay more than you they will get the item.

Thanks for all the info ..I was watching the count down clock and a one second the info bar green in in my favour ..then at zero seconds there was a slight delay My first thought I have been lucky.. but changed to red then quickly grey with item sold message.

It could have been someone who cut their manual snipe a bit fine. If I bother to snipe, I usually click the bid button at around eight seconds left. It takes a few seconds for the bid to register, but if the computer is a bit slow it can come down to one or two seconds ( by mistake. )

I have hit the button with 5 seconds to go and on one occasion it registered exactly on the end time. I thought I had missed out that time. usually my internet connections are so good that it registers immediately or one second after I hit the button.
