The seller advertises a product with buy now purchase price & or make offer, on three separate occasions I have made an offer but to no avail, I have received no communication from seller on any of these bids/offers, I want to buy this product & not be led to believe that this seller is genuine in his sales pitch of make an offer, I believe this to be false advertising & should be looked into. ejs

A seller is under no obligation to respond to an offer. Perhaps your offer is below what the seller is willing to take. If you want the item so much then just use the Buy It Now?

Your offers may be on the low end? He / she ( the seller ) may have set the "make an offer " to reject offers less than a certain $$ .

That must be irritating. Atleast if they responded to and 'rejected' the offer you would know where you stand.

They could even make a counter offer. How hard is it to say "thanks for your interest - I would accept such and such".

Perhaps when you put in one of these offers you could stipulate a 'deadline' eg "my offer is only good for the next 24 hours".

(or a date/time) After which you could move on and not be left dangling.

yeah, I know and it does annoy me, cos you're kind of left in Limbo, not knowing if that money can be spent elsewhere...

I'd hate to commit the money somewhere else and then the seller accepts the offer afterwards

*shivers*

but then, it is only 48 hours, so if the item has been listed for a while, maybe the seller doesn't check in every day, or maybe only does so once a day and I put the offer in after their daily visit iykwim?

I dunno, but we are always reminded here on the boards that not all sellers are 24/7 on eBay,

but yes, when I make an offer, I wanna know right away LOL

same for if I make a counteroffer as a seller - I wanna know if they're gonna accept or decline there and then LOL

cos whilst patience may be a virtue, it isn't one of mine...

I know what you are saying. For me it is not so much about patience. There was one time when I came across a 'suitable' item - was to be a gift. I think it was around lunch time on a Friday and I needed to know by close of business otherwise I would have to source one that evening or over the weekend.

With many people having smart phones and gadgets (I think I am the only one who doesn't), would that not make it easier for sellers to check their messages, offers and questions from potential buyers? I see many people fused to these things so I don't "get" why so many people seem to have trouble communicating with potential buyers....

I rarely use the offer feature, can probably count on one hand and I certainly haven't used it as a seller to date.

I guess what I was trying to get across, for those who don't like the waiting and not knowing is simply to

set a deadline and let the seller know "offer is only good until such and such". That way no risk of not

knowing (for tooooo long) and can move onto another seller or source.

As for the issue of sellers checking (or not checking) their messages. Sure sellers have lives outside of

ebay. I am not talking about the ones who only check periodically. There are sellers who just don't get

back to enquiries - ever! Some of this is simply poor customer service. A bit like going into a store or

restaurant and not getting served...the ones that do want the sale go that extra mile.
