Over the top delivery amount! Extra $800!!??

Moved from other Postage problem thread!

I purchased a chicken coop, won the auction for $118 + $60 postage (post code 4000 to 4200) and to contact them if outside this area (4615)

I sent a message about postage before I bid, but did not get a reply before the auction was ending so bid on it anyway.

I was expecting maybe $80 to $100 to get it delivered!

My Invoice said $118 +$60 +$800.

I have tried to contact the seller about this being an error...

Any help with this would be appreciated!!

Yep, for $800 I'd expect them to assemble the chicken coop, provide the chickens and do regular coop-cleaning and egg collection! :^O

I bought a similar coop a while ago, let me pull up the details and see what the postage was . . .

As you pointed out in the other thread, you did ask, but they did not answer, and you bid regardless. You should never bid unless the seller tells you how much. From postcode 4000 to postcode 4615 is 200km; the seller probably was willing to deliver themselves to his and surrounding suburbs, but to drive 400km they want $800.

The one I bought looks like it might have been from the same people - did yours have 'tinna pets' on the pic? The descriptions look mighty similar still and so do the postage instructions.

And the seller seems to have several IDs selling the same thing.

Anyway, I digress. Delivery for me was $50 (but from Melbourne to Melbourne, and months back). Like crypsynight says I imagine that they mean $80? At least I hope so!

Bit of a bummer the feedback of these chicken-coops and their sellers though . . . .

When i look at the OP's purchases i cannot see chicken coop. How do you know you got the same one from the same seller? The OP lives in country in Queensland. If you are in Melbourne and your one came from Melbourne for $50 with courier, who would be delivering stuff around Melbourne, that is totally different to person who lives 200km into the country, where the courier would have to go specially, or may not go at all.

I don't know for sure, which is why I said "appears".

I looked at completed listings for chicken coops going for $118, and read the description that concurs with the the OP saying their coop was $60 postage (post code 4000 to 4200) and to contact them if outside this area. The photo on both coops had "tinna pet' on them and it also would appear that the seller has multiple IDs all selling coops that are sold and couriered from the same area, Mulgrave, Melbourne, Victoria.

And this seller is also clear that they use a courier for all their interstate sales.

Would need Missmuffit, to tell us where the coop is from to confirm all this though.

And the suspected chicken coop seller has all their listings as private which is probably why you couldn't see it on OP's purchases.

This coop is smaller but with a reasonable postage fee. $45 + $20.

So you see I am not being unreasonable... I should have looked up this guy before dealing with the one I am having problems with!!

Well that establishes that the coop is not from Melbourne!!:^O

But they do use a courier, and being closer to QLD the $800 still doesn't make sense!

Sorry, I am getting all chicken-brained, the previous coop you linked to is from NSW, the $800 delivery coop you are talking about IS from Melbourne, yes?

Is the item located in Melbourne ?

Where are you ? How far away ?

Some sellers may state in their listings contact us if outside certain areas as the Courier costs may be more expensive and/or they don't deliver to other areas?

I have asked the seller how much to post to Gladstone QLD so the postcode is still out of the 4000-4200 range but not your exact postcode.

Don't hold my breath in getting a reply but I am not expecting it to be $800!!

If you have messaged the seller and they haven't replied perhaps request a revised invoice (with a message to the seller explaining the issue) through the payment process ?
