Item location misrepresentation

I searched for Items ONLY located in Australia, selected one and then purchased it. I still haven't received it but taking a look at the tracking it is comming from America. I contacted the seller and questioned them and they refuse to explain why, entirely ignoring the question and calling Fraud on my part for expecting them to provide the correct item location. How is this ok? Ebay have NO email address to forward my complaint to.

I specificly searched for items located in australia.. to be shipped from australia so I'm covered by australian consumer law and it is also approved for use in australia.

All I was asking them to do was list the Item location where the actual item is located as per ebay policy. Hardly agressive. They are intentionally doing this and its unacceptable.

Unless they are a registered business, you are not covered by Australian consumer law to the extent you think.

If it is electrical/electronic goods then you really should be determining if they are a registered Australian business. Which they could well be. The best bet is to buy from a REAL shop where you get REAL buyer protection for those sorts of things.

And located in Australia is no guarantee of approved for use in Australia anyway.

Not sure if you saw this as it is towards the end of their description. Also I see they are a registered Australian business they have their ABN towards the end of the description too.

Thanks, I didn't notice that. I would expect since they only have one Item that they would know where the Item was going to be shipped from.

Buyers assuming instead of actually reading the listing.

You have said elsewhere, in dragging up an old thread, that you will stop buying on eBay. We can only hope.

It's all about the fine print these days... I understand what your saying and where your coming from. As an ebay seller and buyer I advise you read everthing!!! It is the only way to know what is going on and also contact the seller if you are uncertain still. Most sellers aren't like this guy all he had to do was ask you if you had missed that part of the description. Instead he was just rude!!!

I usually check things so I was surprised to read this. Having a second look, I noticed this: "The listing below has been updated by the seller, but you can see the item you purchased."

When i go and take a look at that, i see no reference to what you pasted? Even going back to the original one, i still can't find it?

This is the first and only thread I have created on here dave, I did reply to another thread today that was similar so i'm not digging anything up. I also checked the listing and i can't see any reference to the Item being shipped from international offices. Maybe i'm missing something...

Well done bulkniffum. Their feedback is pretty atrocious. 97.9 is not good on ebay for a big seller.

I'm in the same boat. I mostly search specificly for Items located in Australia. Sometimes i buy from other countries however, when i search for something that is suppose to be located in australia, I clicked that button for a reason and I EXPECT it to be posted from Australia, thats why i clicked on the button.

This is the reason i'm considering not using ebay in the future. And that is the cost of lying, people leave and shop elsewhere.

This is considered dragging up old threads. Regardless of joono's opinion, it is considered poor form. Especially when you then post the same in a new thread. And have no interest in dissenting POVs.

Its only poor form in a few regulars eyes to post on an older thread.

IMO it is far poorer form to post very unwelcoming posts in response to newcomers posting on an older thread.

The buyer bulkniffum wanted to buy from a seller located in Australia.

Why should they have all the old hands telling them that it was cheaper and faster from China or the US. That was not the question that they were asking about.

The seller has less than honest listings and their feedback is not good.

YO and MO are usually different, so that is no surprise.

But old threads tend to have old, outdated information in them and resurrecting them doesn't actually achieve anything except to bring old, outdated information to the top. Which might cause new members to think the information is relevant.

Just MO, of course, but MO has a rational rationale behind it.
