i paid for an item a week ago and i asked the seller to let me knopw once they got the payment and to let me know when they posted the item and i havent heard a thing from them and i dont think they have posted the item how long do i wait? and any ideas on what to do as i sent the seller 2 emails

Firstly go into your purchase history and see if the seller has marked it as posted. It will show a small envelope icon and if you mouse hover over it, it will show the date. You say a week ago then that is only 5 business days and depending on where you are located it could take up to ten business days to reach you. If you haven't received it in another week then I would chase it up.

Did you pay by bank deposit or eCheque?When did you pay?

Bank deposit usually takes 2 business days + to show up in the account.If you paid this way did you mark the payment?If the seller has a few paying this way it may be hard to identify your payment

If you paid by eCheque it usually takes about a week to clear & the seller is advised to wait til it clears before posting.

Message the seller to see how it's going.

i used bank deposit when i paid and i brought 2 other items that day and payed for them and they got the money that night ior the next day and they have posted the items and also marked it as item sent and also emailed me but no word from this other person, also when i did bank deposit i used my ebay name as a reffrence and i also marked it as payment sent, i emailed the person twice and no responce from the person

cecelia, never ever ever pay by bank deposit. Dont trust the seller even if they claim they are the Pope. You have no recourse or should I say very little if things go astray.

I had the same happen to me, paid for item and no response from seller, so I messaged a seller I trusted ( before I found these boards), and I got the same advice as what has been given, so I waited aprox 2 weeks and still no responce, so I lodged dispute with paypal and gave seller a negative and no stars. My way of thinking now is if seller doesn't respond after 4 days I won't bother with dispute on paypal, I will issue a chargeback on credit card.

You did the right thing & tried to contact the seller oh sh!te it's bank deposit so someone else should be telling you about chargeback on your card.i don't know that one.

Just out of curiosity what was the item number?

You need to contact your bank to do a chargeback for this transaction ASAP to get your $ back.

Read their feedback,there is a problem with this seller & i would think by the look of it that you aren't getting your towels.Sorry.

i am going to the bank tomorrow morning anyway so i will do the chargeback while im there, this is the first time i have heard of a charge back what is involved? and thank you for the advise

Since you don't have PayPal protection to get your $ back for this transaction take any details of this with you to the bank so that they can reverse the payment or get you $ back.I think chargeback is more the term if someone has used your card without your permission,not sure on that.

The fb for this seller is terrible for not sending items & JMO i would not buy from them.When you are looking at an item also check the seller's fb to see if there is a risk/problem & if you are unsure buy elsewhere or pay by PayPal.

Post an update about what your bank says or does about it ok.

You have to have paid for the item by credit card to try and get a chargeback.

Just my advice,others may have different ideas/advice/experience that may be better.

i will be curious to read what your bank says & it's handy to have it up here if anyone else needs to know.

I had my bank account misused for a car parts purchase on engine mounts that were not posted (non eBay) a couple of years ago.My Newcastle Permanent really fought to get my $150+ back & did about 1 month later.

You can open a item not received case (probably won't lead to getting your money back as you didn't pay by Paypal).

If you didn't receive an item you paid for, open a case in the Resolution Centre. (If you paid with PayPal, you'll be directed to file a dispute at the PayPal Resolution Centre.)

Yes, no harm in going to the bank.

Chargebacks are only for credit card payments.

What is a chargeback?

Chargebacks occur when buyers ask their credit card company to reverse a transaction that has already been approved. Common reasons for chargebacks include:

Item significantly different. Buyer pays for an item but receives item significantly different than expected.

Sorry,probably dumb question(don't yell at me I'm drinking bourbon),but how does she go if it's a normal bank debit card like mine NAB savings account that is also a Visa card ?Anyone?

As a buyer i only use PayPal so i don't know this,As a seller i haven't had any problems with bank deposit& I didn't want to give her bad info & no-one else was answering.

Ok if your debt card is also visa, then yes you can use it in place of normal credit card. As long as funds are in account. Take card and look at the back of it were you sign your name, if its got 3 little numbers on it your in luck, hay presto, credit card ( now I wonder how many members are pulling there cards out to look)

Debit card is using your own money in bank account... no buyer protection.

A VISA debit card acts the same as a credit card....you can do a chargeback just as you do for a credit card.

It also has the same effect as a credit card as it makes your payments instant, even though the money is coming from your bank account.
