I am waiting on an order worth $20 from china.order was placed and paid 31/7 .They left feedback but it was not marked posted but I was not worried as some sellers dont mark items posted .

After 20 days I asked and it turned out they had not matched payment to items and they were not posted .they asked what I wanted and I said post please ...

now its getting very close to day I will have to file a dispute (ebay message saying to file by 12/9 if a problem) .I am sure they will come any day but will file dispute in case so im not out of pocket if they dont arrive.

Now when I file dispute this Fri 12 ,if no package by then,what happens then ? they get time for it to arrive still I chose to have them send so im not after a refund I just want to cover myself

I feel bad as they were so appoligetic and did offer refund straight away

Open dispute with paypal , that way you have 20 days to ither escalate claim or close case if item arrives.

Open a dispute immediately. Personally, I think you are being stalled for time. Do not feel bad as they are being appoligetic. Sounds like you are being scammed to me. Then who will be appoligetic? IMO.

ok thanks.'I dont feel bad enough to not open a dispute .Its just 500 little net bags I want to catch my seed pods in the garden so I think it was just an oversight .

its a lesson to look at feedback as they have about 98% so not the first error for them

You have nothing to lose. If they arrive, you then close the dispute. If they don't , then you have taken the right approach to a matter that could have been dealt with. Easy. 🙂

Do not leave it till the very last day to open the dispute or you may find it is too late. Sometimes the date is based on US time, sometimes AU time.

I would open it immediately...you still have 20 more days before you need to escalate.

An item which I ordered from China is almost 3 weeks overdue so although I still had another 10 or 11 days in which to lodge a dispute, I nevertheless did so a few days ago and through the Paypal Resolution Centre told the seller that the item was way overdue but I was still quite happy to wait the 20 days before I was required to escalate just in case it arrived in the interim.

He was very apologetic and grateful, and asked if I would like him to send a replacement but I declined because as I told him, it would not arrive before the claim period had expired, and that I would prefer to wait to see if the original item arrived, but if not would be requesting a full refund once the 20 days had expired.

I also told him that if he did eventually refund me and the item happened to turn up at a later date, I would be more than happy to repay him for the item and he was more than satisfied with that.

The point is that while this is not the first time I have adopted this approach, I find it to be the fairest and most equitable method for both the seller and the buyer. We both know exactly where we stand and it negates any possibility of being strung along past the expiry date, and there is always the possibility that a refund may not be required if the item should turn up in the mean time.

I've used the method roughly 5 times in the past couple of years, and in 2 cases the item arrived within the 20 days expiry period, and the other 3 times I was courteously refunded, and one of those refunds was actually repaid a few days later when the item finally arrived after nearly 60 days in transit.

In every case the seller and I were able to come to an amicable solution and there was no necessity for any intervention by Paypal at any time. The point is that most Chinese sellers are more than happy to do the right thing if you approach the problem with the right attitude.

Which is a whole lot better than a lot of neg feedback comments I see calling the seller a theif or scammer because they haven't got the item, & the poor seller has replied they could have worked things out but the buyer didn't contact them before leaving the feedback.

To be fair though, not all Chinese sellers are honest, but in more than 300 purchases from mainland China over the past 10 years, I've only had occasion to leave the one negative feedback, and that was for a genuine scammer who had intentionally sent me and a number of other buyers a cheap silk scarf instead of a A$90 mobile phone.

In fact, given the huge number of transactions daily between China and Australia, I'm actually quite surprised that so few items arrive late or go missing altogether, and I wouldn't mind betting that the majority of those are down to Australia Post anyway.

Well done. Just don't forget to escalate your dispute to a full claim within 20 days or the claim will close without resolution.

He has sent a reply offering a full refund and asking if I can please leave pos and 4 stars.How long do I have to leave feedback? im happy to give it a bit longer as im thinking it has actualy only been 14 days from when he actualy posted in China .If its a genuine error I dont want to be unfair

Do not close the dispute or give positive feedback until you have the refund or there's a very good chance you'll be disappointed with the result, Chinese sellers are renowned for offering solutions but not fulfilling their promises.

Do you know whether it was sent via airmail or sea? Often if it's free postage it comes by sea, which can take up to 8 weeks. I buy minerals specimens from China that come by sea and they are usually 4-7 weeks, but can take 8.

Bawahahaha!!! Well, one did try to eat a piece of Aragonite, but I managed to get him to drop it before he crunched it. It was a similar colour to their salt lick.

I do have to wonder why the sheep are perusing your mineral collection in such a close manner to be able to taste them.

Pictures chooks in the paddock displaying her treasures to the sheep...........................or worse the sheep sitting on the lounge commenting on the quality of said minerals...............

They're not allowed on the lounge, but they are allowed inside because they like watching TV. They know the out of bounds areas, but sometimes they will enter an out of bounds area to see what mischief they can get up to.
