Is the seller in Australia? If so then you can try emailing them and telling them that you have received a counterfeit item and unless they refund you within 48 hours you will report them to the right's owner and the police. That may scare them into refunding but if they are a practiced scammer or actually overseas although they don't appear to be they will just tell you to go forth and multiply or send it back for a refund.

Your other option is to open a Paypal dispute for item not as described, presuming you paid that way, unfortunately unless you can get 3rd party confirmation on company headed notepaper that the item is fake you will still have to pay to return it by trackable means.

Yes, it looks different from the original, but I'd still be trying it anyway and if it works as expected, I think I'd be saving myself an awful lot of grief and ignoring the fact that it may be non-genuine. All that really matters is whether it works or not.

However, if it doesn't work, I would be lodging a Paypal dispute and claiming SNAD. If you really want to go the counterfeit route, it means getting third party written confirmation (probably from Apple themselves) and I'm not sure they'd be all that inclined to help you anyway, given that you didn't buy it from them in the first place.

I'm guessing that you probably knew it wasn't genuine anyway because the only place you can be certain of buying genuine Apple parts is from Apple themselves, so whatever happens, look upon it as a learning experience and don't get caught out again.

From Hyundai web site:
.
Such low-quality parts may not meet Australian Design Rules and putting them in your Hyundai could affect the warranty
.
From the Volvo web site:
.
And only genuine Volvo parts are guaranteed to offer the right quality and give you the right prerequisites for profitable operations. Saving a few dollars can cost a fortune!
.
From the Ford web site:
.
Because Ford is a vehicle manufacturer, we are required to meet Australian Design Standards. As non-genuine part manufacturers only produce parts, they are not obliged to meet these standards. With Genuine Ford Parts you can be assured of the highest standards of quality, fit and finish.
.
ETC ETC ETC
.
Non genuine/counterfeit products are usually junk

Also sellers of non genuine/counterfeit products can sometimes use deceptive advertising
.
They may use expressions such as:
.
A Brand New Evinrude Johnson Outboard Starter Motor
.
When in fact, it is NOT an Evinrude product … it may fit/suit an Evinrude … BUT … is not a genuine part …

.

But the title gives the impression that it is !
.
Thus misleading … and really should be reported to ebay

Are you aware that 90% of new car components these days come from the same third-party suppliers? Quite often the only difference between many "genuine" GM, Ford or Toyota parts is the box they come in, as most of them were made by a totally different manufacturers who supply parts for all of the car makers, many of which are in fact identical. You clearly have no idea that there's a world of difference between high quality non-genuine after-market parts and counterfeit parts which are cheaply made dangerous junk.

I think with careful research and expertise, good quality substitutes can be sourced.

According to the seller's feedback, of the 163 of these covers he has sold, including yourself, only 3 people have complained in all that time. It also appears that every other seller who sells these covers is flogging the very same component with almost no complaints so I'm wondering why yours is giving you so much trouble when everybody else's appears to be working just fine.

Is it possible you didn't fit it correctly? Anyway, that's beside the point. The problem you have is that as it only cost you $5.95, by the time you return it via registered large letter at a cost to you of $5.55 your nett refund will be a miserable 40 cents, less the cost of envelope, so unless you can somehow convince Paypal to waive the cost of return postage, you might as well just keep the thing and forget about it. You've already negged him so at this stage there's not much else that you can really do.

You could always give the Apple service centre a call and ask them how much they'd charge you for a rear cover, but I have a feeling you won't like the answer they give you. In fact, knowing Apple, my guess is that they'll insist on fitting it for you at some outrageous charge, so it would seem that your options are extremely limited.

There is a vast difference between an aftermarket replacement part and an item that claims to be made by the original manufacturer with their name or logo on it.

Hi

Thank you for your comment but if you look at the cammera hole on the fake product, it is way out of alignment .After fitting the back cover the camera became very blurry and unuseable.Money is not really the issue here ,it is the princicles .I was misslead by the seller that this product was genuine and you don't need to be a professor to see that it is a fake. I have two diploma in engineering and used to set up machines that require 10th thousand of a mm accuracy so fitting the case wrong is no chance, as it require nearly zero level of technical skills.

If I have to return the product to get a refund that means the seller will win and I am ending up losing money without any product. If Pay Pal and eBay allow sellers to sell fake product and expect buyer to pay for return postage than they are just as devious and breaking the law as much as the seller, than Pay Pal would have not honor thier buyer protection policy in my opinions.

David
