So you never even tried the generator out during all that time? I'm afraid I would be a bit dubious too!

3000W petrol generator

I bought a unit from <Removed> in feb 2013

During sub-division of my allotment in Sep 2014 m,y electricity was cut -off pending my provision of an underground conduit

I used my generator for the first time then to pr4opvidfe power for the fridge etc - but it stopped generating after approx 1 hr - the fault was a failed plastics partr thaty mounted the slip rinmg brushes in the alternator & substantial damage occurred to the part & slip-ring brushes assembly. The failure was due to faulty manufacture.

<Removed> refused to supply the failed parts - but offerred to sell me another machine.

I am regretful that I bought on ebay & I strongly advise prospective purchaqsers from <Removed> against purchasing fron that supplier because their after sales service is esxtremely poor even non-existant

You are annoyed that there is no after sales service after 19 months from an ebay seller?

You are lucky they even replied to you after all that time.

Why is that so hard to believe? I have a 2.4KW generator downstairs that I bought for possible emergencies which simply never eventuated, and haven't used it for almost 10 years, apart from giving it a quick oil change and 5 minute test run every 12 months or so.

It might be 10 years old now but because I've only used it for less than 1 hour in total during that entire time, I'd be pretty bloody annoyed too if it broke down the first time I had to run it for an extended period, and at the very least I'd expect the manufacturer or their agent to be able to sell me the parts required to fix it.

In fact, under Australian Consumer Law, a manufacturer is required to keep a reasonable stock of spare parts for such items for up to seven years and if they were unable to, or refused to sell me the parts, I'd be taking them to Fair Trading or Consumer Affairs.

Once again a good reason for not naming and shaming on the boards. The seller named has sold one item on ebay and I doubt that a generator would be described as "Beautifully handmade by craftsmen".

Looking through the OP's feedback I suspect he bought the generator from one of the worst sellers on ebay and lack of after sales service is no surprise at all.

Without even looking it would have to be our old friends at agr. Why eBay continues to tolerate them as a seller is completely beyond me, although I suppose buyers have to take some responsibility too, as their feedback is there for all to see before they go ahead and purchase.
