Would like some input from others and maybe any suggestions.

I bought 3 items(2 on one auction) and the seller sent me the wrong items. The shirts did not have the badges as per the ebay auction(even though the auction stated it would come with them). The thermal shirt was the wrong color not even listed in the ebay auction.I put in a paypal claim which is awaiting me posting items back to seller. Here is were the problem is.I paid $50 including postage for auctions originally(including postage).Seller sends wrong gear to me.I have to return the goods to seller at my cost (lets say same as he charged $25) which means that I am still out of pocket $25. How is this fair. Its not like I ordered wrong size or anything. The seller completely stuffed up my order and now I am supposed to be out of pocket? Why should I lose $25 and have nothing in return for that. How is this fair?

fairness does not come into it.

did you contact the seller before opening the claim,? asking for the correct items, and stating you would send the wrong ones back once he sent you a satchel or the postage costs?

contact with the seller should always be your first priority before any claim is logdge.

as per paypal's terms and conditions, to go thru their dispute process yes, you will have to pay return postage.(another good reason to try to work it out with the seller first, just dont let it go past the 45day claim period)

It's not fair at all, and if your seller is a decent one you should be reimbursed for the return postage as the seller is at fault. Postage for three shirts in a 3kg satchel using Click & Send with signature required would cost you $11.55. Sounds to me like your seller is one ebay could do without:|

In the future, you really should check the return policy details that every seller provides. They usually state: "The buyer is responsible for return postage costs." So, that means, if you return it for an exchange/refund, you're responsible for the return costs. It's usually outlined in the Postage/Returns section of the listing.

99 times out of 100 you won't ever need to worry about a return policy but you really should read what it is, in the case that you do ever need to return something.

http://pages.ebay.com.au/help/buy/contextual/return-policy.html

Yeah I know, you're out of pocket for the postage costs but the seller gets back their items. Maybe someone on here knows of a rule where the seller pays return postage for items that are significantly not as described.

.

I have never had to pay return postage on anything I have ordered through mail order catalogues in the distant past and online these days.

I simply phone the company and tell them they have sent the wrong items or they are faulty and have been provided with a Reply Paid address and return number for the parcel and just take the parcel to the PO and that is it.

ebay is the only site I have dealt through that makes the buyer pay for the return of incorrect or faulty items but then ebay is only an avenue through which to trade and they do not sell the actual items thus the difference.

Unfortunately ebays terms state that buyer pays return postage if item not as described. A decent seller would do the right thing but sadly they are few & far between. Best just to leave a neg, cut your losses & move on. The emotional energy drain is not worth it & there are far more important things in life that material posessions & shonky sellers.
