If it were me, I would return the Camera. From what I know about servicing and cleaning cameras, it can be quite expensive. The camera, you say, had only been used once. It may have, but it has sat and gathered a lot of dust, which must be cleaned out to be of any use. I would certainly let the seller know that you intend to return it.

Do not touch it, clean/fix it. Once you mess around with it you will no longer be covered. Yes I would open an item not as described and go from there. It really doesn't matter that the seller had no returns in the listing I don't think ebay take any notice of that anyhow. If you are instructed to send it back by ebay or paypal (and only then) make sure you send it signature on delivery, fill out the receipt and have the PO stamp it as well for proof of sending.

Return it for refund as not as described.

I used to sell digital camera, (and of course use them), they only get like that if the lens is left off and the sensor left exposed.

Even my 'take bush' old olympus Digital camera that has a crack and gap in the plastic case and has been through 10 years of dusty environment does not look like that.

So get a refund, plenty of cameras on ebay.

You definitely are entitled to a refund, as the damage (dust) was not disclosed during the sale. Unfortunately you will be out of pocket for the return postage. To protect yourself, you must open a dispute and you will be instructed when to return the item. When you post the item, it MUST have online tracking (be registered) so you can provide Ebay/Paypal with proof of the return. Hope this helps 🙂

Please only return the camera after going through either a Paypal or ebay dispute and only return it to the address given to you in the dispute. If the new ebay dispute process works as it should then the seller will have to pay for the return postage if you win the not as described dispute but there seem to be a lot of problems with this as ebay don't seem to understand that paid for return post labels are not an option with AP.

Did the description say no dust etc? I notice the sample image you put up says it was shot at f22. If the seller nor the store (who checked the camera) did not shoot their own pics at f22 there is a chance they may not have actually noticed the dust on images to suspect a potential issue. I have taken images where dust registered at f11 or f16 but not f2.8 etc.

How much does it cost to get a sensor 'professionally' cleaned? I have never used the service myself, these days I rely on the camera's own cleaning function or use other appropriate cleaning tools such as rocket blower brushes, lens wipes, isopropyl alcohol etc (used with care and with items that are out of warranty). Oh and I always remember that if I am going to shoot at small apertures I am risking specks of dust showing up no matter which camera or lens.
