SELLERS REFUSING TO SELL

sorry my item is worth more than this i am not selling for this price...

any one else getting emails like this 5 minutes after winning an auction.

this morning i received 2 " dont forget to pay for the items you agreed to purchase " emails from ebay for items that i won and paid for which were cancelled by the seller shortly after.

does ebay send similar emails to sellers reminding them when they listed an item at auction they agreed to sell to the winning bidder.

its happening more and more and i have just about had enough to the point where i cant be bothered bidding any more

plus ebays new instant cancel the order feature has made it even easier.

what happened to an auction is a legally binding contract.

Leave neg feedback to warn others "seller refuses to complete sale if low price"

and move on.

So many sellers need to know to start an auction at a price they would be happy to sell for.

An auction may technically be a legally biinding contract but you could only sue for any financial loss which is zero if the seller refunds your money.

I have only ever had it happen once in all the years I have been buying and selling on ebay and it was a complete newbie who had taken ebay's idiotic advice to start their listing at 99c so I explained how it really is menat to work and let them off as they were new.

Under the new system it appears it is much easier for either a buyer or seller to cancel the sale straight away however if you cannot leave feedback with reflacts how you feel about them backing out of the sale perhaps email ebay to complain or even phone them.

If it really annoys you stick to BINs, I would find it mildly annoying but no more so than having been outbid, either way has the same result, I have kept my money and not bought anything.

OP, the above is not the best advice.

Hardly anyone has any regards for Ebay and their rules these days due to many reasons, and the only time now people are citinig the rules is when it's convenient to them - like when they win something for nothing and the seller won't have a bar of it!

And everyone still says " I would honour the sale, I would do this and that" - but that's just paying the lip service - all I can see around the boards is mostly exactly the oposite.

If you leave the neg for that you'll find more symphaty for the seller than for you!

Especially if they include your user name in their response.

Ebay is still inciting sellers to start the auctions low "as they will encouridge more bids and higher end price"

Don't really know why is everyone so surprised and upset when the sellers are not cooperating if the item goes for nothing.

They have taken the Ebay's advice - and it has let them down.

One thing you can do:

Offer them more money and you'll most likely have every chance of getting the items.

As others said,blame ebay for encouraging sellers to start at .99c then often hides listings so there is no bidding war to get the price they want.I sold stuff low because of a glitch blockout day & while i could have backed out,I didn't.But it didn't make me very happy either.ebay often isn't about fair or legal.Can't force a seller to send to you,they can cancel & refund so there is no loss to you.

Many sellers would back out of a sale with you if they had a look at the 104 negs 20 neutrals you have left over the years.Yes, some were from the days of negs for non paying buyers,but mostly for the sellers you dealt with.

In the time of defects & the threat of having an account suspended due to them,some sellers may be hesitant to risk dealing with you.You are a seller,so you should know thatJust a thought.

Indeed it is, and this is why you (OP) may have received a cancellation of sale.

Most sellers (especially now) would steer clear of a buyer such as you.

I do thank you however for posting here, many sellers no doubt are now protected from your antics and on their behalf I welcome you to thier special lists.

after 11 years of buying name one neg that didnt have a valid reason in the explanation, if sellers didnt continue to lie about the condition of second hand items , increase postage costs after the auction has ended, refuse to sell because it didnt sell for what they wanted, send hundreds of dollars worth of items from overseas to australia in paper bags instead of a decent box so they arrive undamaged there would be a lot less negatives..

You want cheap items from newbies/amateurs to re-sell at a profit,that is the risk you take on ebay.

I've bought a lot of items on 2 accounts (not for re-sale) & had only a couple of minor hassles,not requiring the neg gun.

You have been arounde ebay longer than i have,so you should know better.Look at the seller stats & decide if you want to risk buying from them.If it is a newby or casual seller,they don't know policy or how to price items.That's where you get your low cost items.How else would that many sellers be wrong or negligent to deserve so many negs.

To buy & re-sell on the same account has it's costs.

If all items you bought were so bad,i would be hesitant to buy them from you.That's what you are selling,right?I'm not being sh!tey,you get my point? I would avoid you as buyer or selle& i do like my nerdwear gamer stuff.Too much of a risk either way.

just a few very recent purchases

5 aquarium lights from hong kong 2 were broken , 1 was the wrong color and only 3 of the 5 arrived...

2 aquarium lights from melbourne both the wrong size were sent, told me i had to pay Return postage.

$200 of aquarium plants sent from sydney over half were missing took 2 weeks to get a refund.

set of 3 laser pointers 1 totally different not as per picture.

$300 plastic aquarium plants was told same quality as sold in stores, all rubbish

all were professional sellers and i left them all positives what feedback would you have left...

Just for the record,i may have cosidered giving a neg to your recent no.3 i think neg left.just for the guy's avi of him flexing in his undies *shudders*.

Seriously though,i look at fb before deciding who i want to buy from & rarely have problems.My son doesn't look at stats however & he has freakin problems & i know i should have spanked him more when he was a kid.He's ADHD & doesn't learn from bad experiences.Take from that what you will.

You buy cheap from sellers with under say 99.7% (depening on volume) & you may have a hassle.

Have a look at your account on toolhaus.If you were the seller looking at your negs,would you scream & run or quietly rock in the corner sobbing,scared of the spinyeel? Scarey name,scarey stats,dude.

Buyers don't so much care since they can only have +fb.

Sellers care about negs since it may make the difference in selling or being restricted/throttled/suspended.

I like the bloke who sells bar fridges,he has about ten or so going at once,all identicle,copy and paste add.When one doesn't go to a certain price it is cancelled due to an error in the listing,even thou it's the exact same listing in all cases.Go figure
