Postage Gouging

Hi, I bought a smart phone on ebay and postage was the usual $13.40 so when it arrived in a Postpak padded bag without so much as a piece of cardboard to protect the screen I was shocked, actual postage was $2.10 the item cost over $350 and it was sheer blind luck the screen was not smashed, now I want to let the seller know how I feel about both postage and packaging but as the item is as described maybe negative feedback is not the way to go, I have never given a neg feedback before and although I am very angry I think I need some advise on this, thank you

Did you have to sign for it?

If yes then there is the cost of registration and if they insured it then that is another cost.

But it should have been well protected.

If the seller did not send it with a form of proof of delivery then they leave them self open to not received dispute they would lose if they can not prove postage which is silly for an item of that value

Wait until you're not so angry before making any decisions, would be my advice.

I'm not going to say either way whether neg FB is warranted here, that's not my choice, but I do know the most regrettable decisions tend to be made under the influence of emotion. (After alcohol, anyway ).

If the seller did use registered / insured, that would have added $8+ on to the stamp price, plus whatever was paid for the packaging. Registered you'd have to sign for, but there's no indication on a package if extra cover has been purchased.

As to the packaging, it's disappointing - I know - when someone doesn't take the care that would generally be expected when sending a fragile item, I feel it shows a disregard for the item and buyer, but at the same time I'm not so sure I'd personally let thoughts of "what could have happened" to an item have much of an influence on my decision; but that's just me.

Yes I had to sign for it, and yes it was marked registered post as a large letter, total for postage was $2.10 plus $1.95 for postpak padded bag that's still over 300% mark up on postage but then I did open it at the post office so if it was broken i could have claimed through their insurance I don’t know maybe I’m just nit picking and getting all worked up for nothing

NB: The stamp was marked registered post , large letter and $2.10 all on the same ticket thats why I think total for postage is only $2.10 all inclusive

I would contact the seller and politely convey your displeasure.

The type of answer I receive would determine whether I leave a pos. or neut. .

PLUS $8 as mentioned above which makes a total of $12.05, not including any extra cover they may have purchased.

So only the lack of packaging issue to be dealt with.

so the quoted price was more than fair....
