Paypal will make you pay for the cost of returning. If you open an ebay dispute and they find in your favour ebay will make the seller pay for the return.

I can't understand some sellers, the bag obviously not fit for anything so a sensible seller would refund you and tell you to chuck it away or give it to the kids for dress-up.

I bought a handbag which was listed as only being used once for a photo shoot. It arrived with a faulty clasp {will not close} and a broken inside zipper.Seller has agreed to refund, but says i have to pay for the postage to send it back to her.I'm in Sydney-seller is on the other side of the country.I don't know where i stand on this.It is not as if i have just changed my mind-the item is unusable-so why should i be out of pocket? Any suggestions would be valuable.Thank you in advance.

Thank you & i do agree.I'm sure she would have known it wasn't fit to list in the 1st place. She claims she had no trouble closing the bag,but out of the 15 or so times i tried i ended up with sore fingers and only managed once to close it.Then there is still the case of the broken zipper.A good seller would refund....i have a couple of times in the past. You just chalk it up to experience and not make the same mistake again.Cheers

I had a buyer contact me on Thursday night about the gemstone they'd bought. The message was blunt and went something like "stone is scratched, send new one". Yes, the stone did have minor surface scratches on it, which was mentioned in the description and also shown in the photos.

As the buyer had contacted me via "ask seller a question" as opposed to opening a dispute, I said I didn't have another, so if they wanted to send it back, I would be more than happy to give them a full refund, including the cost of return postage (which is only $1.40). I figured I didn't have to, but it's hopefully going to stop me getting bad feedback and a defect. The buyer may still give me bad feedback, but I've done all I can to hopefully keep the buyer happy.

I'm not sure why some sellers have to dig their heels in when there's a problem. If there's a problem, there's a problem, deal with it. It's not hard. Sellers are only human and things can be missed. Accept responsibility if something is an oversight and move on. No point lying about it because most buyers aren't stupid.

Knowing how easy it is for sellers to get defected off eBay forever, it's pointless fighting a losing battle, which that seller is if you decide to open a dispute. Please come back and let us know the outcome. Best of luck!
