Fake watch listing, reported to eBay. Nothing happens.

There is a listing of a used yellow Casio G6900A-9, anyone who owns G6900 would know it's a fake. I even confirmed with the guys on WUS. Just compared the lettering and colour with a real G6900A-9, it's so obvious.

So I message the seller, letting him know that it is a fake if he didn't know. Nothing happend.

But it's obvious the seller knows it is a fake, he used the classic scam seller technique of seller fakes by using blurry pictures so that the average would be fooled more easily, but the watch does even have the lettering of "casio" where it should be... lol

Then I reported to eBay and messaged the sellerbut nothing happened. So some ignorant innocent buy is going to end up with a fake watch and eBay does do anything about it....

Sorry bt you can'ty really expect ebay to remove a listing just on your sayso. You could be a rival seller getting rid of the competion or a disgruntled buyer wh wants to get their own back on a seller. If Casio is a member of the VERO program then they canget it removed straight away or, if they are not, they would have a better chance of getting it removed than you.

As fr an innocent buyer, if it an expensive item then they should do due diligence before bidding and know their rights to a refund if it does turn out to be counterfeit.

No, what a surprise, once again my words getting twisted. I don't expect eBay to remove any listing because I say so. Who am I? I do expect eBay to investigate the listing I reported, and come to their own conclusion which is pretty easy in this case. Otherwise what is the point of having the reporting system?

I do expect eBay to investigate the listing I reported, and come to their own conclusion which is pretty easy in this case.

Ebay get tens of thousands of reports every day, how on earth could they ever have the manpower or financial resources to check every reported fake item?

The seller hasn't stated that the watch is authentic, only that it's used. Buyers need to do their homework, just as you did, if they are interested in the watch. IMO there is nothing in the listing that would require any intervention by EB and certainly nothing for you to be making a noise about.

'Fraid so!

Recently I bought some Target bed linen - it turned out it was a fake Target!

What I got was Sferra Milos Seamist Egyptian Cotton Sateen.

And on top of that - I paid less than 20 bucks - when I should have been paying around $595.

I also reported the seller imediatelly - but Ebay did nothing.

I got nothing better to do all day - any day, than trawl through listings and keep reporting them, all to no avail.

You'd think Ebay would apreciate our efforts, as they are for free - they get mugs like us to do the job that they should be doing since they care so much what gets sold here!

So do due diligence. Secondhand items have no warranty and minimal legal redress after all. As you know.

Were you assuming you could get a cheap genuine watch so you could resell at a massive profit? Or are they undercutting you for a similar item?

cool, does that mean I can buy Casio frogman replicas in bulk and sell it on ebay as "used" and not state if it's genuine or not and make massive profit.

And that won't violate any ebay rules or any local laws?

If that's what you think you need to do then go ahead, I think you have all the right attributes and you will fit in quite well with all the other sellers doing the same thing. You will, no doubt, leave yourself open to a few problems dealing with disgruntled buyers but, looking on the bright side -, you will have excuses to come to this forum and do quite a lot of air raiding.

That's not what I think, that's why you guys seem to convey is acceptable on eBay. I personally think such behaviour is disgusting, unethical and totally illegal. But you guys seem to think otherwise. Hence why I made this hypothetical question to ask you if it's okay. So don't question the questioner. Classic.

I absolutely agree with all the above but it is up to buyers and sellers to take responsiility for what they buy and sell. If a buyer receives a fake then as long as they follow the correct procedure they will get their money back, they also have the ability to report the seller to customs, the police and the rights owner if they wish. If a seller knowingly lists fakes then they are leaving themselves open to prosecuton and finanial penalties but it is not up to ebay to do the policing when it is just an every day member making the report. They will act if the rights owner gets in touch but unfortunately too many of them just don't bother.

I also agree with you but, sometimes all you can do is give it your best shot then move on which is what you appear to have done, with the exception of moving on. Just feel satisfied with the fact you've tried.

If you've really got an objection to counterfeit junk being passed off as genuine, whatever you do, don't look at the watch listings on Gumtree, your head'll explode.
