Shady neighbour

Friday 7.45am I think possibly my Ebay parcel may have been nicked from my front door as I heard and saw courier attempting to deliver it. Think it would have been Australia post contractor (also viewed a scuffle with someone) then saw courier leave to get back into post van, went to check for parcel but no luck. Parcel from Canada, no track number. Saw somebody grab courier by his top, positive it was female attacking him . Would have been person who lives in my block of flats. Saw all this from my loungeroom window. Could anyone advise me what to do at all? I have home contents insurance. I am hoping courier put parcel back into van due to the trouble. Very very distressing. Would have run to front door but was in pyjamas. Spoke with post office this morning personally but they did not seem that concerned. Any good ideas about what I can do?

You could contact the courier company if it wasn't APO.

Try contacting the complaints department of APO if it was one of their drivers and your local PO isn't interested.

Contact the Police, report the alleged theft.

I don't think that Home contents insurance covers theft and your excess may be more that the value of your missing item.

Michelle, if it is the item you bought on the 29th October then you need to wait a bit longer before going in with all guns blazing and accusing anyone of theft.

Two weeks from Canada, even from BC, is too short a time frame to decide it has gone missing.

How do you know that AP was delivering your parcel? Did the driver knock on the door or ring the bell?

I am not surprised that the post office is unconcerned....how many times have you jumped the gun on missing parcels that have turned up after you have had your panic attack?

If a courier was attacked while making a delivery and had a parcel snatched out of his hand, I can't help thinking he would have reported it.

If he had followed proceedure the incident would be reported to the base and the driver would be taken off the road and have to report it to the police.

It would not be business as usual and if the driver had been injured it would probably have been on the news.

Michelle must live in a very rough neighbourhood if an incident such as she describes is reasonably common.

Perhaps the driver was delivering an item in exchange for cash and ...... well ........ interesting description of what was observed from the loungeroom window.

Maybe the low life former neighbours followed her to the new address to continue making her life miserable? The might have missed her after she moved, so waited until a flat in the new block became available.

Michelle, if there was a scuffle, definitely report all that you saw. An attack on an employee/contractor should be taken seriously by the delivery company. Don't worry about being in your pjs, if your parcel is at stake. My posties have seen me in my pjs and didn't get too shocked 🙂

I've never seen anybody have so many issues with ebay purchases in all the years I have been an ebay member.

Imastawka - agree 100%!

All of her stories so far (those that I have read) were a total fabrication, lies - and not even well tought out and constructed to be even remotely beleivable.

They never intended to hurt anyone, it looks like they are cries for help - or people contact & attention.

Unfortunately, Ebay boards are very impersonal place, no one really knows anyone else, and almost impossible to offer any help in a practical sense to lonely people.

Always very sad to see people in those situations

I am still pursuing it so I really hope and prey that the item turns up shortly. Fingers crossed and toes.Been to post office plus police station. Hope to get a breakthrough soon. But at present is making my hair stand up on end.

Michelle, settle down......it is not your place to go to the police on behalf of a driver that you THINK may have been attacked. Leave it to the driver himself and the company he works for.

You have been told many times before that mail from Canada is very slow....the parcel you think it is is probably still on it's way.

The couriers also come via side of flats up driveway via carpark not by the normal front entrance, which is slightly dodgy I think, but not a lot I can do about it.

Why is it dodgy for a courier to use the carpark of the flats? It is not always easy to park on the street anywhere near where the item is to be delivered.

Couriers in the CBD will always use the dedicated courier spots in carparks rather than a loading zone on the street any day. It is a lot safer.

If you start making demands as to where the courier has to park to deliver your items you will be told to collect your parcels from the depot. Is that what you want?

Even though I live in a very wide street, with lots of available parking out the front, more often that not the delivery driver pulls into the driveway. Nothing dodgy about it. It puts him/her closer to my front door and can save time, rather than running in from out the front. Delivery drivers are very busy and are expected to be in 10 places at once. If they can cut a few seconds to a minute or 2 off a delivery by parking closer, they will.

Are you concerned they may decide to offload your parcels to the dodgy neighbours by parking in the car park, instead of giving them to you? Why don't you install CCTV, then you can keep an eye on all their activity to make sure none of your parcels get given to the dodgy neighbours on purpose?

Be on full alert. Especially because Christmas is coming near,

and thieves go into 24 hour shifts . Keeping themselves away with PEP pills.
