Unresponsive sellers

Have emailed a couple of sellers of late just to enquire about shipping costs and dont receive a reply.
Then have to resend the message and hopefully get a response 2nd time round.

All that says is that some sellers are slack or the ebay message system is glitchy and the sellers have not received your first message.

maybe they feel the shipping costs are allready in their listings so no need to reply.

If,remembering not everyone is at their computer every day,if have given them enough time to reply and if their listing does not already state postage costs,why not just buy from someone else?

Yes Lyndal possible that there is a glitch somewhere?
Ship cost not supplied. Have waited up to 3 days also for a reply, gave up, then sent another message. One of the items I want is only available to buy from that particular seller.

might be best to avoid sellers who dont communicate even if they are the only ones with an item you cant live without.

what is the item just out of curiosity?

If the items are being mailed from overseas - perhaps the cost is ridiculous and they don't reply because they believe you will lose interest once you see the price. As a seller, I know that I have had a person from Ukraine ask about postage costs and the postage cost was significantly greater than the item price . Although it is still good manners to reply......

Probably some type of rodent food. She screams broke then spends obscene amounts of money on importing rodent food from overseas. I think it has something to do with the packaging being more shiny than the locally sold stuff. Shiny packaging means better quality, of course.

i doubt she is able to buy/import any pet food from outside australia. its against the law to bring anything into australia that might bring disease with it.

i know this as i had a pet turtle which i tried to import floating food sticks for from the usa, same exact food you could buy here but in a large 1kg box instead of little 250gram tubs.

i successfully imported a couple of boxes before getting caught by customs and getting a very angry letter letting me know my food stuff was an illeagle import and would be destroyed unless i paid to have it returned to sender.

if michelle has been attempting to import pet food the sniffer dogs would catch her pretty quickly and put a stop to it.

once you get caught you find anything you import suddenly is being regularly opened and inspected.

my imports of pretty much everything were getting opened almost every time.

i stopped trying to import anything food related after loosing about $50 with that first time getting caught.

David, Michelle has been very successfully buying pet food from overseas for some time now.

Most of her problems seem to stem from her impatience at the time her parcels take to arrive.

I suggest you read some of the threads she has started in the last year or so.....some of them are very good entertainment.

Maybe said sellers have seen how quickly OP opens INR reports and decided not to take the chance. Sorry Michelle but your impatience and expectations do tend to be a bit unreal at times.

if as you say she has been successfully importing pet food from outside australia she is breaking the law.

i found this on the australian govt. agriculture site explaining items you cant import under any cercumstances. unless of course your a pet food importer with the correct permits ect.

This case describes the requirements for importing plant based products used as feed for large and small pets, excluding birdseed and fish feed. This includes dog and cat canned/retorted food and biscuits, rabbit/guinea pig pellets, as well as any plant products/ingredients to be used in pet food manufacturing in Australia.

For pet food containing ingredients not of plant origin, see ‘Pet food’ in BICON and refer to the biological products website for additional information.

i find it hard to belive shes been doing it for a long time without getting caught.

our customs system isnt infalable i know but pet food would be one of the easiest to detect.

i'd love to see proof she was bringing pet food into australia via mailorder.

And Michelle has told us what she bought on several of the threads she started.

She had a lot of rats I believe.

Nothing against pet rats at all, but importing food for them, honestly? Rats would have one of toughest stomachs of all creatures surely, so what's the logic behind this?

Because they come in pretty shiny packaging, which makes them of higher quality and a higher nutritional content. She has imported stuff with fruit and dairy in them, so no idea how she hasn't bee caught. I'm sure when she is eventually caught, and she will be, she will open her mouth and say something like "I've been doing this for years and never had a problem". If she tells them that, they will then allow her to import whatever illegal stuff she wants for the rodents.

All the rats and mice around my house get to eat are whatever bait I place in the trap. This week it's bacon rind. Had quite a few artierial blood spatters to clean up in my kitchen over the last few weeks. Bacon rind is showing to be very palatable for the local mouse population.

you don't need watchcount to see the sort of pet food michelle has been buying, feedback will do a similar job.

Speaking generally, just take a look at a member's feedback (if it is not set to 'Private') and click on one of the seller IDs that have left feedback. Then, look at the seller's feedback and find the item by looking at the feedback counts of the buyers that the seller has left feedback for and match it to the buyer's feedback count. Then click on the 'view item' link and you can see the items. If the item is not pet food then go back and choose another seller.

Here's one I found for an Australian buyer that posts on these boards that buys pet food from overseas sellers, even though the state the buyer lives in has a thriving salmon industry that could be ruined by contaminated salmon based pet food:

Don't give up.

Over the past couple of weeks I tried to contact a seller I had bought from, through eBay messages.

They responded erratically (this was important) and didn't seem on top of the conversation.

Turns out they did not get all the messages, and I did not get all of theirs.

Often that's because they don't ship to Australia.

If they don't, they've already answered your question - shipping is $0, because they won't ship here.
