Am I receiving a refund?

After asking for a refund, I received the following response:

"I'm sorry to hear that you would like to cancel your order, please note that the item was still within the specified 10 day postage time frame.

In any case, your refund has now been sent to our accounts team. Please allow 3-5 business days for this to be processed.

Thank you for your patience."

Which I wasn't sure if it meant I am receiving a refund or, their accounts team is deciding whether or not I should receive a refund. So I asked for clarification and received the following response:

"Your refund has been issued and will be processed within 48 hours.

Payments made by PayPal: Instant Payment will appear into the relevant PayPal account as soon as this process is complete."

Which I'm still not sure if I am receiving a refund or they're still deciding. What does everyone else think?

They said "Your refund has been issued and will be processed within 48 hours." They then proceed to say that the payment will be "instant" with paypal. So if a refund has been issued, shouldn't it instantly appear in my account?

Oh and if you're wondering why I don't just wait the 3-5 business days, it's because I want to buy something else. But I can't buy it until I know for sure that I'm receiving a refund.

No one here can answer if you are getting your refund or not. These boards are not manned by ebay staff but members just like yourself who try to help.

Did your payment come from a paypal balance or was it funded by a c/card or bank account? If funded from bank account or card that is where it will be refunded to.

Who did the email come from? If you have cancelled due to change of mind the seller has no obligation to refund. They receive a defect on their selling account for issuing refunds.

The payment was made through paypal, but funded by bank account (since they're linked). The email is from dicksmith, and yes it was cancelled due to a change of mind.

I'm just having trouble interpreting those messages. I'm not sure if they've accepted my request to cancel the order, or if they're just processing my request.

There is nothing ambiguous about the messages....your refund has been approved and the seller's accounts department will process it within a few days. This is standard practice for large/retail sellers.

As it was funded by a bank account the refund will remain in your paypal account. It is only credit or debit card funding that is returned to the source of the funds.

This is good for you....as the funds remain in your paypal account you can access them as soon as the are received instead of having to wait a few days for them to go back to your account.

I suggest you log into your paypal account regularly to check when the funds arrive....paypal has been a bit lax recently in ending out notifications.

Okay thank you. I just needed to be sure that the refund had been approved. I thought they may have meant they were deciding whether or not to approve it.
