Am I getting scammed?

So I made a deal with a guy with no rating to buy new keyboard but it seems my old keyboard is working again so I cancel my purchase with him.

I ve already messaged him to cancel the purchase and he said something like it will be delivered within 2-13 days which makes no sense because he is not answering the question.

So I messaged him again and finally he said he ll deal with it (look at my ss).

But since then, he hasn t reply to me yet just like you see in my last screenshot.

Today, I received message to ebay that I can't cancel the purchase because the item is on the delivery.

I bought the item and 10 minutes after that I want to cancel the purchase so there is no way that he CAN T cancel it because I informed him very early.

I want to return this item very soon and contact eBay about this possible scam.

I need solution. Thanks

You chose to muck the seller around and they do not have to cancel.

When you bought the item the seller was charged fees. If you had already paid then the seller could have immediately packed and labelled the item to post, and even if they hadn't they still don't have to cancel the transaction on what is basically a change of mind.

If you have not paid then you should imediately - you can always resell it, or you will get a non-payer slap on the hand from Ebay and you may find yourself restricted on some sellers accounts.

I don't know that but I don't mind pay more money to cancel my purchase.

If he messages me that, I would cover all his money.

I'm new on ebay and I only bought like 2 items but at this point, I'm afraid to get scammed because I don't know what to do.

The seller's failure to respond is unfortunate, but you should not assume that a seller will simply cancel the sale just because you have changed your mind. They are under no obligation to do so, although the majority of sellers would because it is better to have no sale than a troublesome one. When you Bid or Buy Now on eBay you are making a committment to purchase and are generally required to complete the transaction.

That point not withstanding, given the seller's initial response was that they would sort it out, you could lodge a return request and refuse the delivery when it arrives. Add a note in the case window to let eBay know the seller had agreed to cancel the order but then shipped anyway.

I doubt this would qualify as being scammed however, I suspect the seller was possibly just busy filling orders and your request may simply have fallen through the cracks before he had time to action the cancellation request.

Seller may have already sent item.

If you get it you can resell yourself.

After allowing enough time for postage if you don't get it, you can open a case for item not received to get a refund.

I am sorry I came down on you hard. You should probably treat this as a lesson learned. I am not sure how long ago you messaged the seller last but keep in mind that some people are not on thier comuters all the time, or even every day.

I am guessing that the seller does not want to deal with you, a problem buyer in his eyes, so you may just have to leave it be and either pay or cop the slap.

You need to learn how ebay works.

First. Sales are final. You don't have a right to demand a cancellation.

It doesn't matter if you asked within 10 minutes or 10 hours, a seller does not have to cancel a sale.

Your mistakes are not someone else's problem.

Some sellers will cancel as a goodwill gesture but it puts them to some trouble as they will already have been charged fees, plus their item cannot go back on ebay till it is all sorted out, which with some buyers could mean days. The whole process actually carries some risk to the seller too.

What a lot of sellers will do now is issue an unpaid item claim after 4 days and follow through with that, which will earn you a strike against your account. Get two of those and you will be blocked from buying with quite a lot of sellers.

Second What you have struck is not a scam, it is just a seller who does not wish to cancel the sale and what is more, he does not have to. You probably won't have any right to return the item either, not unless that option is specifically mentioned in the listing, and by the sounds of it, it is not.

If you do not know that you need to pay for what you buy(being new is no excsue), then you must learn how ebay works before you do anything else

You should know how it works anyway, to protect ourself from the real scams out there,for one thing

Whilst I would not specifically say that you are getting scammed, I will add this as there were some red flags from my perspective:

My son bought the same item in question from a normal retailer here last week and it comes in a pretty big, heavy box. It was $299.00

From my point of view, the item seems really low priced (which is why I assume you bought it), however, I have no idea how they are going to send it for just $10.00 shipping.

Personally I would be concerned that the seller is brand new on Ebay and yet is selling some reasonably high priced items for an extremely low price with very enticing shipping costs.

It is possible that you will not receive the item - so if the final estimated delivery date has passed, open an Item Not Received Case.

I wouldn't bother communicating further with the seller - just wait and see what happens.

If it does turn up, then you could sell it yourself on Ebay as you'll probably make a profit. You could easily sell it for $160.00

you should never buy expensive items from a seller with 0 feedback.

0 feedback doesnt make the seller a scammer but it is a risk.

you should never buy anything unless you really want it.

once you do buy an item, deciding you dont really want it is not a reason to stiff the seller.

even though this seller has 0 feedback he has done nothing wrong, you have.

the fact you have come onto the forum and identified the seller via screenshots is not good form.

IMO you deserve a strike for your actions.

I agree in part david, but I think the OP should keep a very wary eye on this 'delivery' and the ETA for it's arrival.

While the seller is under no obligation to cancel a sale, especially once paid for, it does seem strange that the item could be 'shipped' so very quickly (if the 10 minute timeframe given by OP is correct).

OP, if you have not received in a reasonalbe time frame (if it is from Canada, give it time) open INR - pretty sure you have 180 days to do this ???

Someone correct me if I am wrong please.

I'd open an INR as soon as the last date for delivery had passed.

I took a look at your screenshots and you really shouldn't put any identifying information up on a public board, especially yours.

Anyway, after looking at the pictures, the tone of the messages strikes me as that of Chinese sellers. It will be interesting to see if the item does actually turn up and where it has been sent from.

i have one seller, very good seller, based in australia, who marks items as posted with a tracking number within minutes of my payment. even on weekends!

first time had me wondering but has turned out fine every time.

i agree this seller does look dodgy but hasnt actually done anything wrong thus far.

he may turn out to be a crooked chinese seller or a regular bad seller but until there is evedence of wrong doing we shouldnt judge.

i think we see so many stories of bad sellers and buyers on the boards we sometimes can jump to the 'hes a crook' too quickly.

This won't actually work, I'm afraid.

One of the clauses of the eBay Money Back Guarantee is that the buyer is responsible for accepting delivery. If a delivery is refused, the purchase is not eligible for the MBG* and the buyer could be out both the item and the money if the seller doesn't refund voluntarily.

*There are some exceptions - if the package is refused due to it also coming with a bill for underpaid postage, or it is clear the package is empty, then it can still qualify for MBG, but the buyer needs to supply documentation from the carrier service that corroborates the reason for refusal.
