On occasions I have relisted items and changed the price on them. I then get an email from eBay saying the item I have looked at , the price has been reduced and am I still interested in said item.

Of course the price has been reduced.....it's my item and I changed the price!!!!

Whatever happy juice these people are on, I wish they would share it around.
EBay Spam

The eBay spam emails have stooped to a new low. Last night I put an item on my watch list. An auction item that ends in 2 days. Tonight I got an email asking if i was still interested in that item. It's on my watch list isn't it?

Now the funny one. Posted some items yesterday. I accessed one of the sold items on the app to get the buyers address. I posted them off and uploaded the tracking number. Tonight I get an email informing me that this item was no longer available and gave me 2 other suggestions.......both my items on that account. The item no longer available was my sold item that I opened to get the buyers address. It now seems the bots can't differentiate your own items and someone elses. The bots have been smoking the woopy weed again.

It's bad enough they spam you with items you've looked at briefly and click out because you aren't interested in buying them, but now spamming you with your own items is getting a bit much. I think I've got a pretty good idea that my items are no longer available.

Me thinks eBay techs have been on the happy juice.............

I don't normally use it for that, but I wasn't logged into that account on the computer, so it was quicker to just open the app that was logged in to that account. I should confoose the bots and open each one of my listings. Nah, on second thoughts, I get enough eBay spam already.

Or to redirect eBay emails using the plus sign technique, if that still works and they haven't banned that too like they did with the "your email cannot be the same as your username" rubbish years ago.

Has anyone recently tried putting a plus sign after their email for example johndoe+ebayspam @ blah (I'm half waiting for a forum bot to censor this fake email too!)

I've been getting emails about my own listings for a looooong time. I also see them in ads on other websites I visit. I've prefer they show MY items to OTHER people!

I'm pretty sure I got an email yesterday about an item I'd looked at on another ID. That was a new one on me. It's been a pretty rough week so perhaps it was the same ID, and I couldn't be bothered wasting time checking it.

No app here either.

Let's bump this.

I use a PC.

I started a seller account and also bought a few things.

On my other older accounts I buy stuff and don't have

to put up with eBay messaging me constantly ( daily )

about items I looked at. Seems like all

I have to do is have something on my watch list

and the spam gates open. I know it's not 'spam' by

definition but it is still very annoying.

It occured to me that a great many buyers may be

put off by this and vote with their feet.

I know it's a numbers game sales trick but it usually

aims to capture 5%. So 95% on the mailing list are probably

carped off and almost afraid to 'watch' anything 🙂

There have been glaring examples of this where threads started many years ago are bumped, and members in the know have to correct the claims or assertions of the new posters.

You are right Padi, old threads should not be bumped as info can be outdated. This one being a prime example. The spam has got WORSE! I looked at something last year on one of my accounts, which was an item mentioned on the forums, where someone wanted help. I am STILL getting search ideas about XYZ item, and new listings, old listings, sold listings, dead people listings. Even clearing out the searched items on the eBay home page doesn't stop it.

Don't get me started on the permanent 20% offer on the big names, like the Good Guys. Enough already! I can get those emails half a dozen times every day. Thank goodness I know how to do bulk delete in the email.

Yes, where ebay 'policy' changes then old threads can become irrelevent.

I guess ebay's ( optin ) spamming 'policy' may have changed with respect to intensity

but I don't intend to start another thread.

Have a great day.
