Once eBay removed a feed back it cannot be reinstated. Is this true?

eBay do not require to notify members of feedback removal especially if it contravene's the rules.

e.g. Mention of a case, bad language or untrue.

It can be appealled but I have never heard of it being reinstated in more than 10 years.

What if it's an unfair removal? especialy when fb was a neutral and just stating the facts.

You could call eBay and try but I think you are wasting your time.

The seller may have said something to eBay which was convincing enough for it's removal.

I think in these cases eBay prefers to err on the side of doubt and removing it means no one is hurt.

If the seller then received similar feedback or complaints in the future, then eBay may see the pattern and decide to not remove future feedback or restrict the seller.

Personally I would forget it and move on.

Kopes, I have had feedback reinstated after the seller had it removed....TWICE.

It stayed after it was reinstated the second time, much to the seller's annoyance.

OP, if you are sure the feedback does not contravene the rules I would definitely contact ebay and ask why it was removed....tell them you would like it reinstated.

There has been a thread running on the boards about sellers whoseem to be able to get bad feedback removed whenever they want to.

It certainly makes a mockery of the whole system.

I could never understand all this endless talk about about f/back!

Why would people even care about it beats me.

I shop mostly on the sites where there is no f/back at all and manage quite fine, and on Ebay I don't even bother looking at the people's f/back - just look at the items I like or need.

No matter what Ebay people do with f/backs (removing them and for what reasons), I would be much more sceptical of the bad f/backs left by customers, they are not to be trusted at the best of time.

Mostly lies, self gratification, wielding of this "power" over sellers - not to mention tthe drama if their f/back gets removed!

It's always "how dare they remove MY f/back, like my opinion doesn't count, like I am not a person" but people should know that no one gives a hoot about their opinion anyway as it's always tainted and has no bearing on anything else except revenge of some sort.

Not the actual feedback.

Why would you give your money to someone who has hundreds of negatives saying that their item hasn't arrived, or that it is junk, and that the seller doesn't give a hoot?

And that's why negative fb should stay.

That's where the feedback system is helpful.

If a seller has negs, it can be assumed that a high percentage of unhappy buyers have left feedback. If the seller conforms to the norm, it is fair to assume they only receive feedback for less than half of their transactions.

So the figures are skewed. For fb% and defect purposes, I think ALL transactions should be used, with no feedback left counting as positive (after 60 days) for calculations.

It was only a week or so ago somebody came onto the boards boasting about not leaving feedback for sellers unless there was a 'problem' with the transaction, in which case it was/would be neutral or negative.

Hi, I don't understand what you mean??
This is the first time I had trouble. I am just an honest buyer and didn't use eBay as much for the very reason of being scammed or dealing with shoddy sellers. Now being called "shoddy" for no good reason, It's hard to swallow this unfairness.

That is how you work the system then it's fine. But I do give a hood about others' experience with that particular seller since that is the only way I know if I can trust him or her to deliver.
Also, of course I don't mean to use it like a bible but with a grain of salt.

I chat to them twice.
The first one said eBay will investigate and reinstate if found to be a wrong decision to removed my fb.
The second one admitted it was but said they had no option to reinstate it. So it is a lie??!!

For my handful of purchases on eBay, I had a fairshare of problems but I always tried to work it out with sellers and don't remember leaving any neg fb. This time it's only a neutral since the seller did not honour the transaction for I took the advice given on this board to other members and refused to pay the expensive postage option (first option x 3) so she could have the delivery confirm and insurance on the item.

Am I being unfair? I don't think so!

After that I received a FALSE pos fb from her and emails calling me 'shoddy' and laughed at me for putting my trust in the fainess of the system.

Sorry, my reply was to fixnwear, not you, Kau.

If you didn't pay for the purchase, then fb can't be left.

As simple as that.

I understand that the seller wanted extra for postage after the sale, but if the sale didn't go through, then it wasn't a sale.

The false positive has been removed by ebay

edit: I see the seller was in the USA. Maybe she didn't post to Australia and needed

the extra postage for overseas tracking?

No. I won the auction and paid soon after. The postage listing said "world wide' and had 2 options for postage to Oz. I picked the first option.
Then she refunded me anyway a few days later after I said I did not want to cancel the transaction and would like to proceed. So I think the neutral fb was fair since I only stating the facts that 'I won, I paid and seller refused to send since I refused paying extra for her insurance.'

I already paid almost AUD 70 for postage and she asked me to paid around extra AUD 130 more.
That's over $200 for postage so she could be covered!
Who's in the right mind would do that?

They obviously didn't want to sell to you, for whatever reason.

But if she refunded you, then it was a non-sale.

Hence the removal of fb
