In this paticular case the Items were not particularily bulky and heavy, 2 items would have fitted and been OK ina an A5 padded bag, My issue is with the EBay postage calculator for the sellers is it Is over inflated, I believe it is an " add on" automatic calcilator to the ebay store, not the seller themslves setting the prices.

I ended up contacting the seller amd they combined pthe postage for all four pieces, still cheaper to buy from OS into Australia than to buy locally in far to many cases.

Have you contacted ebay with your thoughts on the postage policy ?

Every buyer has the option not to buy if the price is too high

Are the sellers you are looking at over-inflating the postage charges or is that what it actually costs them to package and ship the items?

Car parts tend to be bulky and/or heavy. Which tends to make postage to the other side of the world, especially by air, expensive. Postage is predicated on the cost of the service, not the cost of the goods purchased, so I'm not sure why you are conflating the two.

eBay don't read the boards, and even if they did what do you think they could do? They are unlikely to pay somebody to go through millions of listings to make sure quoted postage is not excessive.

<LI-SPOILER>
I would insist upon delivery by Nubian slaves attired in pure gold, accompanying a lavishly embellished hathi howdah upon the back of a mighty elephant. The हाथी हौदा must be constructed in such a way that the elephant suffers no harm, of course. (I would not want the elephant to be in pain, suffer any damage, or have a shortened life as a result of the हाथी हौदा.) The Nubian slaves may raise human rights issues, naturally, so perhaps they could be richly paid and freed upon condition that they pretend that they are Nubian slaves...?

At any rate, I would like to know if I'm expected to provide stabling for the elephant - and who is going to sweep up its doings on the street? Surely this is the seller's responsibility!

</LI-SPOILER>

I might be way off track here, as I have never sold anything on EBay. But is the seller putting in the right weight and dimensions for the parcel to be shipped? Or are they just guessing and over estimated on everything?

I have noticed a difference of US$50.00 on shipping for the same item from the same state, (sometimes from the same seller if they have 2 but listed separate) in the USA. That tells me some of the sellers are too lazy to get it right, does not care or is over worked.

If you can not shop around for better shipping from another seller, ask the seller that does have the part to double check everything: sizes and weight with the shipping.

I was in need of an engine stand 6 months ago. Great prices here on EBay but the shipping from east to W.A. more than doubled the price. Mates at work spotted one of the local auto parts suppliers had one on sale. I bought local, got an engine stand, block of beer and change in my pocket for the price of getting it from the Eastern States.

Shop around, and if need be, ask questions to the sellers, they may have it all wrong.
