I'm sick of BUYERS not leaving feedback. I have a personal account, and admin two selling accounts for my place of employ. On this account alone, I've received 1469 feedback ratings from buyers, and left 2384 - a difference of 914.

On my personal account, I've received 3270 - and have left 6210. That's 2940 transactions I haven't received feedback for!

A difference of only 190 between "received" and "left"? I wish I had your "problem".

On this account alone we've left 14,200 and received 9,146.

That doesn't take into account our non-store ids.

It doesn't really matter, but we feel it's courteous to leave feedback, especially for our buyers.

We usually leave feedback when we mark the items posted, rather than when we receive payment, as it's easier to do it all in one go.

Many sellers don't leave feedback until after the buyer leaves a positive.

Wonder if the OP waits for seller feedback before leaving theirs? Both could be waiting for a long time 😄

Every time I read this sentence, and I've lost count of the number of times I've read it, as written by various people, this is how I interpret it:

"I'm sick of other people not doing what I want them to, because I think other people owe it to me to do the things I want them to do, and they have no agency of their own when it comes to things I want".

In other words - feedback is voluntary, no one has to leave it, and most people are much happier when they respect the fact that other people can make their own choices. If you only want to buy from sellers who leave feedback, check their feedback profile before you buy - if they have lots of feedback left for others, and it indicates they are leaving feedback for all of their buyers, then I guess it's safe to buy. If it shows they never leave feedback for buyers, or haven;t in a long time, then I guess don't buy, no matter how much you want or need the item they're selling, because obviously then it would just be a waste of money without the feedback.

Both buyers and sellers leaving feedback has declined a lot over the years. I remember when I started on Ebay in 2003 - EVERYBODY left feedback, especially as you could rate your buyer as a neg or positive back then.

Once they did away with all of that and you could only leave buyers positive feedback, a lot of sellers didn't bother any more as it became meaningless.

Also, with the rise on so much online shopping many people have "Feedback Fatigue"

In this store I've had over 3000 transactions and yet I have less than 1300 in feedback.

In my other online store outside of Ebay, my feedback score is less than 10% of my total transactions.

So as a seller, I could say that I'm pretty sick of buyers not leaving feedback for me - afterall a score of 3000+ would look far better than a score of 1278, but as to why buyers don't leave feedback, who can say.......??

I think you're right and a lot of buyers just can't be bothered with leaving feedback.

I think those of us on messageboards are a more unusual breed-we're the ones who don't mind writing, but my guess is to an awful lot of people, it's like pulling teeth, taking them away from their facebook or whatever.

Unless of course they have something bad to say, then they might be keen to get a word in.

If I were still selling regulaly though, I'd be careful to do a couple of things-mark the item as posted and give feedback once the transaction had gone satisfactorily. That might not mean immediately on cleared payment, which is how we used to do it way back in the day. But things were different then, with no claims etc.

But most buyers like feedback. We can argue against the logic of it till kingdom come, but the fact is, quite a few see it as rounding off the transaction, the final professional touch, if you like, so may as well give it (to those who deserve it).

As a buyer on other sites, have to say that I was interested in your comment about fedback fatigue and do see examples of it on COTD, where people give feedback/ratings on the products.

I've found the most useful feedback is in the comments, but most people seem to just give a star rating without a comment. I often feel if soemone gives a 2 star rating (out of 5) without saying why they marked it down, it is pretty meaningless.

I have to fess up that if I purchase say 5 items from a seller, sometimes (not often) I only leave feedback on 1 as I believe that only 1 in any given week counts towards the score anyway (and I'd probably be repeating the same thing anyway - comment about time taken to post, communication, packaging).

If a seller (not refering to you, just in general) has their listings set to private then there's probably not much point in leaving feedback for all of them as it's of no value to buyers if they can't see what the feedback's for.

I did leave a couple of reviews for items but now I get emails from the host site saying 'your review helped xx people' - not something I need or want to know.

do so why should ebay sellers be any different ? It's all about the purchase and the money, not how

wonderful or kitty litter anyone is.

Blame Ebay. I used to leave feedback until EBay changed the feedback form so if you check positive you now HAVE to fill out an additional amount of info on freight time etc. I see that and think, I've got more important things to do with my life. Why they couldn't make the extra information optional beats me.

Yep, that's it.

All that clicking of a maximum of 4 parameters would take a whole second per, so 4 additional seconds.

Besides, the OP was whinging about the 10% or less of sellers who haven't left them feedback. Leaving feedback as a seller involves clicking positive and putting a comment in. Nothing about postage time at all.

I don't *always* fill out every box

Sometimes I don't do any

It depends how much time I have at the time I am leaving feedback

I do at least write a basic thank you
