bought an item approx 12 days ago.tracking number in AU post site states invalid number.

tracking item is with "Winit "...i bought within Australia (nsw) never heard of it..can anyone add to this ?

Winit is a logistics company which is most commonly used to ship goods from China.

Are you sure your seller is in Australia and not just a Chinese seller who says he is in Australia.

Check the tracking number on the Winit tracking site and see where it is coming from.

Looks like it was packed and dispatched last week in Melbourne on 15th.

It may not get scanned in again until it's delivered.

Further to lyndal's, check where the seller is registered.

I currently have one with Winit tracking but it reverts to Fastway from Sydney to Melbourne.

yep. seller is registered in melbourne vic (not nsw as i first stated) with 99.6% pos feed back and over 18,000 sales. posts from AU...winit states from AU..no import duties etc to pay so im sure its from AU...

might not get scanned again till it gets to my mail centre maybe?

bought around 12 days ago so it looks like seller took a few days to post which is fine with me.. thanks to all..

I've never seen the seller's registered location as giving the state, it usually only says 'registered in Australia' (or which ever country it might be)

I know the item location says the state,but not the seller's

The tracking confirms what I first thought.

The seller is using a warehouse in Australia to dispatch the goods.....whether the goods are already there is another matter.

If your item has taken this long I suspect it will be sent from China.

Just keep looking at the tracking.....it is quite comprehensive and will no doubt update as soon as there is a further tracking event.

that is the item location which the seller can put as being anywhere they wish (and not always true)

Different to where the seller is registered , shown on their feedback page

if it comes from china do i get hit with gst?...if it does come from china i see a neg going towards them as they mislead item location.

You've already paid and as far as eBay's concerned the item is in Australia, so no GST will/should be applied (unless the item + postage is over $1,000.)

I find what these ebay sellers are doing now, as most of us refuse to buy anything from china because it takes a millenia to receive.....
So eBay sellers are now listing their products as within Australia, but in actual fact they order it from China to themselves here in AU, then re-post to you when it arrives to their depot point here in Australia. So technically their sales point is within AU - but you'll always be waiting a kazzilion years to receive an unwated international product.
We end up paying good money for cheap Chinese rubbish and wait forever to receive, wondering why it's taking so long to post from Sydney or Melbourne?

Don't buy cheap Chinese junk and you won't get cheap Chinese junk. Chinese sellers are registered in China, which a simple check of their feedback would show.

WOW. I've never waited a gazzillion years, or even a kazillion years for anything from China. Apart from a few years back where there was a shipping issue in the October, I've never waited longer than 2 weeks. Most things arrive within about 8 days.

I guess you need to pick your sellers, and check feedback before buying. I love my Chinese sellers. They are not dodgy, they all are large volume sellers and have maintained 100% positive feedback since I've been buying from them (over 10 years).
