Once again problems with delivery times, buyer purchased 2 items on 28/2 posted 1/3 according to buyer email ebay advised they would receive item by 7 March - bearing in mind 2/3 March weekend and 4 was Public Holiday delivery from WA to Victoria would be lucky for by 7 March. Buyer inists ebay told them it would be received by 7 March, I advised as it was a large package they should check at local post office response "why should they ebay said it would be delivered by 7 March"

They have left negative feedback which I have responded to saying it can take up to 6 business days excluding weekends. I messaged the buyer on the day I posted to say it had been posted and to allow up to 6 working days excluding weekends and holidays, not much else I can do.

It would depend a little on what time you posted the item on the Friday, if posted in the morning it would have been on a truck or train over the weekend and on its way I would think.

It clearly shows delivery as being 6 business days.

Unfortunately, what it also shows in the listing itself is free postage but $4 in postage cost.Maybe give them a call.

Fox the first item was free post and the second was $4 so that what seller charged. What is Your handling time? This is what e-bay uses to estimate delivery of the order. This is what the buyer sees. Yes they have been a little hasty leaving feedback and they should have contacted you. It is frustrating when buyers don't contact you first. Have you tried e-mailing the buyer?

Sorry fox I didn't read the second listing all the way down the bottom. I am as bad as some buyers not reading all the description lol.

It should be free post if is says in description. Maybe the OP doesn't realise they have done this.

...

Why would they think that it would be delivered by 7 March - they insist that ebay said it would be

If you look at the postage section of the birthday party listing, eBay states that the item should arrive within 5 business days from cleared payment, making a 7th of March delivery time expectable or at the very least an 8th of March to account for the public holiday. Some people judge solely based on that, so you might be best changing it to a 2-day delivery time to give yourself a little extra room.

Because the buyer presumably needed it by the 7th of March for a birthday, that may be why they were upset enough to leave a neg. For things like that, it might be a good idea to message the buyer (or put something in the description) asking what date they need it by.

Parcels which would normally have arrived by last Friday only arrived today. I suspect they were left sitting in Perth over the long weekend and didn't leave until the Tuesday.

I would be contacting ebay and trying to get those rotten red dots removed on the grounds of the buyer is being totally unreasonable. Ask ebay to look at the messages between the two of you, and they might realise it's their fault (they won't admit it though).:-)

I have 3 business days as my handling time and it's also stated in my TOS, however most items go out one day after payment is received - this way buyers are usually quite happy as their purchase arrives sooner than ebay tells them it will:^O

I had a seller whose estimated delivery time from the US was 6-12 business days, then they got shirty with me when I message them a month later asking where my item was..

I had to open a dispute in the end as the seller was not willing to help in any way and accused me of being demanding and impatient... I don't think it's impatient to expect an item from the US within a month, especially when items ordered from another seller in the US which were purchased after the first items had arrived within 2 weeks.

Then he advised me that he would only offer a refund or a new item if a dispute wasn't opened..

It has now been two months since the items were apparently posted and I still don't have them.

Hi Thought I would update you all on this - I went to my local post office where I take all my items and mentioned to them the items posted on 1st March had not arrived, the owner told me that AP had not collected their mail bags on Friday 1st, they dont open on a Saturday and Monday 4th was holiday in WA therefore nothing was collected till Tuesday 5th no wonder they buyer did not receive by 7th. They said it happens quite often the mail not being collected, I rang AP who cant do anything as the mail is collected by contractor.

In other words -

The local PO cant do anything as they are agents of AP

AP cant do anything as its the responsibility of the contractor to collect mail - so in the end its the fault of the seller as no one else cares.

My response to all this is - I am only going to stock items that can be sent letter post and will post them all in the box at the main post office
