Is anybody still using Photobucket?

Or better, what other free hosting site is there?

I am absolutely livid; I just wasted another few hours trying to do my listings using pics from Photobucket. The changes in photobucket have been one of the main reasons I have not been listing, but today I decided to get move on. After really good photoshoot, I have painstakingly numbered some 200 of my photos such a way that they will be in the order I need their HTML pasted into my templates, well *!@#%* photobucket does not upload them in the order I have them, it saves them by the date/time!!!!. That meant that I had to search the whole album backwards and forwards to get each correct photo. What an idiotic system.

if you change the default settings, will that help?

User settings – albums – sort order for new albums - alphabetical

I actually find it better than the old photobucket, even though I was very much opposed to the change (I'm an ole bear and we despise changes). I have created albums and separate my items once they've been uploaded:-)

curraone - do you use a "smart" phone to take your photos? The reason I ask is everytime one of my daughters sends me a pic of my grandson, it's sideways and I have to upload it to photobucket then rotate it. She doesn't understand why they arrive sideways, as she says they look just fine when she takes them using her "smart" phone:-)

I don't understand it - they look okay on the computer, I download them and at least half are sideways on photobucket.

I have not ticked the auto rotate thing, because someone told me not to, but it makes no difference.

in fact I did a whole album with the auto rotate option ticked and the result was the same.

And rotating them in photobucket is very time consuming.

well glad to know it's not just me - but doesn't make it any better. Some features work well, but can't figure out the sideways thing.

There is another photo storage site called use ( add the necessary letters and punctuation - you know how to do it 😉 )

I am not really sure how well it works as I have only just started using it, it seems OK for storage but doesn't have any photo editing capabilities.

For photo editing, I am using the pixlr site - this is the photo editor that used to be on photobucket.

I rarely put images in the description now, eBay advise against it because of the use of smartphones and ipads, you are best off just using the gallery feature and adding lots of images there, it really is the way it is going..........

I still use it, hate the new version for a few days [till I finally worked it out with help from good people on here].

I agree with u supanova, I used to be able to upload photos in the order I wanted DESPITE the number on the original photo ie. 1. 2. 3. , the new PB though lists them alphnumerically, I have to go back into my picture folder on my computer & re view them to find which ones I want to use & in what order. They are so small on PB now !

Oh, I have always had my photos in albums for each items, but I need to insert particular photo into text, so I need the right photo in the right spot. Having them numbered in that order I need them, made it easy just go from 1 - 10 (or whatever). Used to take me few minutes, took me ages, yesterday. The alphabetical function does not work; when I went to HELP, they say that it is not functional as yet and will be available in future. But I do not particularly want "sort alphabetically" I want to sort numerically; unless of course they mean it will do both.

Also the function to upload directly into sub albums does not work (also mentioned in the help section), so I have to up load into the "home page" and than move, but if there is uneven number of pics you have to do it in another couple of moves. It is a total non functioning mess. I have here some 60 items to list and there is no way I have the time that it took me yesterday to do all the listings.

They list them by date and time taken; WHY in the hell do not just leave them the way people have them in their folders? AND while I am struggling with this mess, the last thing I want there flashing at me the "make a story" thingy. X-(

I tried to find how to contact them and tell them what I think of the changes, but I do not think there is a way. In the past there was the survey that I filled up several times.

I have in the past always coped with any site changes, here or elsewhere without trouble, and usually started seeing the pluses of the improvements. This is the first time that I am pretty much unable to work with the new system.

I need pics in text, the gallery is not enough for me.

After signing in I always select the album I want them in before uploading.

If you want to move photos from one album to another just click on Organize at the top of the album and then hold down control and select the photos that you want to shift,(hold down Ctrl and then click on the photos you want to move).

Select Move from the bottom menu,then select the album you want to shift them to and click on Move.

No idea about that one as I don't have the auto rotate ticked but the rotate correctly when uploading.

The only time they didn't is when after taking the pictures and downloading them to the camera album I didn't rotate before moving them to my pictures folder.

That is the only way they will sort them, BUT I do not want them in the order I take them ( by date/time), I went through all the trouble of renaming them = numbering them from 001 - 200something and want them uploaded in that order, so I have them in the order I need them. Having them by the date/time just does not work for me. I have whole folder of photographs taken few weeks ago,ready to make listing, but for some items I want some more pics of details, or am not happy with the quality of some shots, and want to take more. So each item has a mixture of dates.

And yes, I know I can move them into a different album, that is what I did, but I do not want to be messing around with that. OK that is a minor annoyance, but on top of everything else.... and surely, that is very basic function.

Well, that function does not work; when I went to help they say that this function to upload directly into albums is not available as yet.

It's always worked for me from the time I changed over except now,:O

A new album I created to check all this is now empty and the photos are now in the Your Photos & Videos album,(I'm glad I switched over to the gallery photos for eBay).

I used to use Photobucket so that I could upload lots more photos but that site is now rapidly becoming a waste of space if trying to use it for eBay,X-(

Youasre not the only person getting frustrated with photobucket. Try Image Shack. Much more user friendly. 🙂

Thanks I will have a go at that. If I have to spend hours doing each listing, it is just not worth my time. 🙂
