What do you know - yesterday in the mail I received a neat little parcel from E-Bay.

Inside 5 x 500 gr flat rate Click and Send Satchels and instructions how to use them.

Why this sudden generosity from E-Bay, considering I've never used Click and Send ......

What's their angle ??

I got that too. Very surprising. Thought it was amazing until i realized i still have to pay the postage. I never use the click and send. I might have to try it now. Anything i should know about before i do?

The satchels appear to be click and send - they are white and grey.

You buy postage on E-Bay - print the label and stick the satchel in a red post box or hand over at the counter.

The postage amount is charged to your account.......

I got that promotion offer direct from click and send, not via ebay. Seems C & S are loosing business to ebay labels and so are just marketing the service. Surprised you got them from Ebay, seems like the two services are competing with each other

Definitely from E-Bay - a black cardboard type envelope with the colorful E-Bay logo and an address in Petersham N.S.W. at the top left hand corner....

Hi Annie

Just be aware that if you put C&S satchels into a red street box you automatically give up your seller protection against INR cases because you will not have a lodgement receipt for over the counter lodgement. This receipt is your proof of lodgement.

AP also do not scan these parcels put into street boxes until they are delivered (and that is not always) so you have no proof you actually mailed the parcel.

This is one of the three primary requirements for seller protection against INR.

The other two are:

1.) use the paypal mailing address (assuming they paid via paypal)

2.) use a tracking service that can be associated with the buyers postcode as a minimum. C&S does this.

I'm also wondering if the printed label (you print on E-Bay) is going to be the buyers address on E-Bay and what if that is different from the address on Pay Pal; does that mean you're still up the creek without a paddle in case of any claims ????

There are 2 different types of pay-as-you-go satchels.

One is white and grey with eBay written on it and is for use with the eBay Postage Labels. The shipping address is picked up from the address the buyer selects in checkout which is saved in the PayPal transaction.

The other satchel is white and red and is for use with Aus Post Click & Send service.

I'm beginning to see a lot of snags:

who's going to help you in case something goes wrong with click and send

E-Bay ? - (who took your postage money, but doesn't deliver the parcel) - that would be a first

Australia Post ? - (who delivers the parcel but doesn't have your Postage money, until E-Bay pays them) - that would be a first too

What if you have to reprint a label (for whatever reason) - does E-Bay charge you again for the same transaction ?

I can just imagine obtaining a credit for postage from either of these companies is going to be like pulling teeth and that is not even considering Pay Pal into the mix -

Perhaps the Click and Send satchels are going in the "too hard" basket

Well, I'm way over the 3 months since I listed anything on eBay. They keep sending me the message that my buyers are missing me () but no freebies. Oh well, will just have to master on as they say. My PS status will disappear shortly so visits to this forum will no longer be possible which is sad.

I've been using Click and Send since 2010. It was a bit glitchy at the start but now works really well.

The eBay Postage Labels have been around since the end of 2013 and they are easy to use.

Their angle? Lol I received them too.

Their angle is to make money, like any company, worldwide.

Their satchels give them advertising while strengthening their brand. Meanwhile, their deal with Auspost gives them kickbacks. Any large company in the world would only make deals with another company like this if it involves financial incentives. I know because I ued to be a business consultant and would help government & private businesses strike deals like this.
It would be something along the lines of -
1.If Ebay sells so many parcels for Auspost, Auspost will give them a percent per parcel.
Orr..
2. Ebay has a target or X amount of parcels to sell per month / year that will trigger a kickback of $ X from Ebay if they hit that target.

And its probably scaled.

Thats their angle - they want you to use click and send because it makes them money.

If sellers wanted to get around this, they could probably use the Ebay satchels, but go into the post office to pay instead of using click and send. Then the sale probably wouldnt be registered as Ebays.

May has been my worst month for sales ever (by 30%!).. so it doesnt give me much incentive to support Ebay and their unethical practices of shutting out smaller sellers.

You have a choice of 2 different pay-as-you-go postage labels.

If you don't want to use eBay Postage Labels have a look at Click & Send. If you link your Click & Send to your eBay account the shipping addresses are automatically imported from eBay and the tracking info automatically uploaded to eBay.
